R-2005-I W A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, APPROVING A REQUEST FROM THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA NETBALL ASSOCIATION, INC., TO WAIVE ROOM RENTAL FEES IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $2,500.00 FOR THE USA NETBALL SQUAD'S USE OF T+iE MULTI -PURPOSE CENTER GYMNASIUM FOR TRAINING PURPOSES ON SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 26, 2005, FROM 9:00 A.M. TO 4:00 P.M., SATURDAY, MARCH 5, 2005, FROM 9:00 A.M. TO 7:30 P.M., SUNDAY, MARCH 6, 2005, FROM 9:00 A.M. TO 4:30 P.M. AND ANY ADDITIONAL REQUESTS FOR COURT TIME DURING THE EVENT, IF AVAILABLE, ONCE THEY HAVE CONFIRMED A DETAILED MATCH SCHEDULE; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation has received a request from the United States of America Netball Association, Inc., to waive all room rental fees for the USA Netball Squad's use of the Multi -Purpose Center Gymnasium for training purposes on Saturday, February 26, 2005, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Saturday, March 5, 2005, from 9:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, March 6, 2005, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; and WHEREAS, in addition to the above -mentioned training dates and times, the United States of America Netball Association, Inc., may have an additional request for court time during the event, if available, once they have confirmed a detailed match schedule; and WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac is desirous of joining other area cities in supporting the United States of America Netball Association, Inc.; dnd Temp. Reso #10644 - February 9, 005 Page 2 WHEREAS, a public purpose will be served by waiving the fees including regional, national and international exposure at Netball events, an opportunity to associated with an internationally recognized sports event, and an opportunity to the extremely fast growing sector of sports, women athletes; and WHEREAS, the Director of Parks and Recreation recommends waiver of rental fees in an amount not to exceed $2,500.00 for the USA Netball Squad's use the Multi -Purpose Center Gymnasium for training purposes on Saturday, February a 2005, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Saturday, March 5, 2005, from 9:00 a.m. to 7:301 p.m., Sunday, March 6, 2005, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and any additional requE 11 for court time during the event, if available, once they have confirmed a detailed m ch schedule; and WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida, deems it to be in the best interests of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to waive room rental fees in an amount not to exceed $2,500.00 for the USA Netball Squad's use the Multi -Purpose Center Gymnasium for training purposes on Saturday, February �6, 2005, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Saturday, March 5, 2005, from 9:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, March 6, 2005, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and any additional requests for court time during the event, if available, once they have confirmed a detailed match schedule. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA: Temp. Reso #10644 -February 9, 2005 Page 3 SECTION 1: The foregoing Whereas clauses are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this resolution upon adoption hereof. SECTION 2: That the request by the United States of America Netball Association, Inc., to waive room rental fees for the USA Netball Squad's use of the Multi -Purpose Center Gymnasium for training purposes on Saturday, February 26, 2005, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Saturday, March 5, 2005, from 9:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Sunday, March 6, 2005, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and any additional requests for court time during the event, if available, once they have confirmed a detailed match schedule, in an amount not to exceed $2,500.00, is HEREBY APPROVED. SECTION 3: All Resolutions or parts of Resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict. SECTION 4: If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of this Resolution. 1 Temp.
