CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R-2005 M.,-)3
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, ADOPTING THE
BROWARD COUNTY LOCAL MITIGATION PLAN;
AGREEING TO CONTINUE TO PARTICIPATE WITH
BROWARD COUNTY IN FORMULATING A LOCAL
MITIGATION STRATEGY; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS;
PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR
AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac desires to prevent
catastrophic losses resulting from disasters; and
WHEREAS Mitigation Strategy is a carefully planned pre -disaster preparation
plan meant to minimize the effects of a disaster; and
WHEREAS Mitigation initiatives are designed to protect emergency responders
so that they can remain available to respond to emergencies; and
WHEREAS Mitigation Strategy will help to insure continuity of government in the
City of Tamarac following a disaster; and
WHEREAS, Broward County has worked with various municipalities, including
the City of Tamarac, in the formulation of a Broward County Local Mitigation Strategy;
and

WHEREAS the City of Tamarac's participation with Broward County in this
statewide process will serve as a road map for reducing Florida's exposure to futu
disasters; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac understands the n
for a Local Mitigation Strategy; and
WHEREAS, Tamarac is eligible to submit for numerous grant programs ba
upon its adoption of and participation in the Local Mitigation Strategy; and
WHEREAS, it is the recommendation of the Fire Chief that Tamarac continub to
participate in the Local Mitigation Strategy program; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida deems it to
in the best interest of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to participate
with Broward County in a coordinated Local Mitigation Strategy.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: The foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and
confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this
Resolution.

SECTION 2: The City of Tamarac adopts the Broward County Local Mitigation
Strategy (attached hereto as Exhibit "A").
SECTION 3: The City of Tamarac will participate in a local mitigation strategy
with Broward County.
SECTION 4: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 5: If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution
is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or
application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of this
Resolution.
