CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R-93-c98
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA SUPPORTING AND ENDORSING
THE ENHANCEMENT AND REVITALIZATION OF THE
JACKSON MEMORIAL HOSPITAL BURN UNIT LOCATED IN
MIAMI, DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA; PROVIDING FOR A
REQUEST TO CITIZENS AND RESIDENTS OF TAMARAC,
GOVERNMENTAL AGENCIES AND INTERESTED
GOVERNMENT AND PRIVATE ORGANIZATIONS TO
SUPPORT THE FUND DRIVE CURRENTLY UNDERWAY
SEEKING ADDITIONAL, VOLUNTARY CONTRIBUTIONS
FOR THE JACKSON MEMORIAL BURN UNIT IN ORDER
FOR THE HOSPITAL TO ENHANCE ITS CURRENT
POSITION BY ADDING STATE OF THE ART NEW
EQUIPMENT AND ADDITIONAL PERSONNEL TO SERVE
THE HEALTH AND SAFETY NEEDS OF THE STATE OF
FLORIDA; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING
FOR 'SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the State of Florida is the fourth largest state in
the Union in population with an overwhelming number of that
population located in South Florida; and
WHEREAS, with the wisdom of the Florida Legislature, special
legislative acts have created hospital districts, health
facilities authorities, and other statutory vehicles to assist and
to promote health care and health care opportunities to all
citizens and residents in the local and regional communities where
such hospitals, hospital districts and special authorities exist;
and
WHEREAS, Jackson Memorial Hospital is a renowned institution
serving the citizens and residents not only of Dade County,
Florida, but the population of all of South Florida and.the State
of Florida in connection with its existing facilities and state-
of-the-art opportunities for those in need of medical care and
treatment for a host of illnesses; and
WHEREAS, the Jackson Memorial Burn Unit is a distinguished
facility within Jackson Memorial Hospital which has served to
benefit the health, safety and welfare needs of citizens and
residents for the entire Sate of Florida who, in times of need,

have been treated by the caring and considerate medical
professionals and medical personnel at the Jackson Memorial Burn
Unit; and
WHEREAS, the entire South Florida community benefits from the
Jackson Memorial Burn Unit and has been asked, from time to time,
to support, with voluntary contributions, the efforts and
activities associated with this recognized and respected
institution; and
WHEREAS, the Tamarac City Council finds and determines that
it is consistent with public policies of this City to support and
to assist, where possible, an activity which engenders hope and
caring for those in need as is the case at the Jackson Memorial
Burn Unit.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1� 'That the foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are
hereby ratified and confirmed as being true and correct and are
hereby made a specific part of this Resolution.
SECT -ION 2: That the Tamarac City Council publicly
requests its citizens and residents, its sister cities, and their
citizens and residents, and any and all interested persons, firms,
corporations and governmental agencies to support the 1993 Fund
Drive for the Jackson Memorial Hospital Burn Unit in order to
ensure the continued development, expansion and opportunities
available to serve those in need at the Jackson Memorial Hospital
Burn Unit.
SFC'TiON 3: That the Tamarac City Council hereby
authorizes and directs the City Clerk to transmit certified copies
of this Resolution to the Broward County League of Cities, the
Florida League of Cities, and all sister cities having an interest
in the healing arts and those in need in our South Florida and
State of Florida community.

EECTION,4: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in
conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such
conflict.
S-ECTION 5: If any clause, section, other part or
application of this Resolution is held by any court of competent
jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or
application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining
portions or applications of this Resolution.
SECTION 6: This Resolution shall become effective
immediately upon its passage and adoption. 1�n
