CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RE S OLUT ION NO. R-
A RESOLUTION REFLECTING THE WILL OF THE PEOPLE
REGARDING THE STATE OF ISRAEL.
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac is a municipality organized and
existing under the laws of the State of Florida; and
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac is a governmental entity of the
people, by the people, and for the people, created upon democratic
principles, and created solely for the purpose of serving the best
interests of its people; and
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac, this State and Country are all
products of the democratic processes; and
WHEREAS, the duly -elected Council of the City of Tamarac, and
the citizens of Tamarac as a whole, wish to foster and nourish
democracy wherever it may be furthered in the world; and
WHEREAS, the State of Israel is the only democracy in the Middle
East; and
WHEREAS, the State of Israel is the only dependable and loyal
ally of the United States of America in the Middle East; and
WHEREAS, the Palestinian Liberation Organization has in the past
murdered men, women, and children of the State of Israel; and
WHEREAS, the Arab countries, the United Nations and the world
at large have failed to protest these heinous acts; and
WHEREAS, the above have further failed to take any steps to
prevent instances of this kind from happening; and
WHEREAS, the sale of armaments to any Arab country constitutes
a very real threat to the existence of the State of Israel, the only
democracy and supporter of the United States of America in the Middle
East; and
WHEREAS, the United States of America has similarly been the
only staunch ally and supporter of the State of Israel and the only
nation which has stood firmly for its survival; and
WHEREAS, the present policy of the United States of America has
deviated from firm support of the democracy of Israel; and
WHEREAS, the failure of the support of this country would result
in not only the loss of millions of innocent lives, but the extinguish-
ment of the light of democracy in that corner of the world.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That the foreign policy of the United States of
American reflect the will of the people of the United States of
America, including the citizens of the City of Tamarac,that the
State of Israel continue to exist as a separate and democratic
society within safe and secure boundaries as determined by the
leaders of that State elected by its people.
SECTION 2: That the United States of America continue its policy
of the past of unswerving friendship and common interest with said
State.
SECTION 3: That copies of this Resolution be forwarded to the
Florida delegation of the United States Senate and House of Represen-
tatives.
PASSED, ADOPTED AND APPROVED this o?/, day of 1978.
