3 A RESOLUTION CONCERNING FUTURE OWNERSHIP OF
TAMARAC UTILITIES, INC.

5 WHEREAS, the Mayor of the City of Sunrise has disrupted,
6 without legitimate reason, two hearings of the Florida Public Service Com-
7 mission concerning an interim rate increase application of Tamarac Utilities,and
8 WHEREAS, before the Public Service Commission,, the Mayor of
9 the City of Sunrise stated his intention to attempt to purchase Tamarac
10 Utilities, and
11 WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac does not appreciate unnecessary,
12 unwarranted, unsolicited and uninvited intrusions into the affairs of
13 Tamarac by its neighbors, and
14 WHEREAS, rates currently charged by Sunrise are higher than
15 currently authorized rates charged by Tamarac Utilities, and
76 WHEREAS, one guarantee to the citizens of Tamarac if Sunrise
17 owns Tamarac Utilities is that the customers will be paying themselves back,
18 with interest, for any refund received, and
19 WHEREAS, ownership of Tamarac Utilities by the City of Sunrise
20 will remove the rates from regulation by the Public Service Commission and
21 turn rate making over to the City of Sunrise which will have no obligation
22 to the citizens of Tamarac.
23 WHEREAS, ownership of Tamarac Utilities by the City of Sunrise
24 would permit a surcharge of rates in excess of those charged to the residents
25 of Sunrise which could conceivably increase costs charged the residents of
26 Tamarac, and
27 WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac and its residents have spent
28 tens of thousands of dollars fighting to make rates fair and to make the
29 Utility responsible for setting proper rates, and
30 WHEREAS, the actions of the Mayor of Sunrise have not helped
31 the City in proceedings before the Florida Public Service Commission, and
32 WHEREAS, ownership of Tamarac Utilities by Sunrise will give
33 Sunrise the power to control development in Tamarac, even possibly the power
34 to deny water and sewer service within Tamarac to encourage development in

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: Tamarac resents the grandstanding by the Mayor
of Sunrise pertaining to the possible acquisition of Tamarac Utilities and
requests the Mayor of Sunrise to stay on the south side of Commercial Boulevard.
At the present time and with the information now at its disposal, Tamarac
is opposed to the acquisition of Tamarac Utilities by the City of Sunrise.
SECTION 2: The City Council of the City of Sunrise is
hereby requested to reject and disregard the proposals of its Mayor since
such proposals are considered massively harmful to the interest of the
residents of Tamarac.
SECTION 3: It is further resolved that the Public Service
Commission reject these flamboyant proposals which are utterly irrelevant to
the present rate proceedings and are designed to create confusion and
unnecessary interference in the important issues now pending before the

SECTION 4: A copy of this Resolution shall be furnished to
the members of the Public Service Commission, to the Mayor of Sunrise and to
each member of the Sunrise City Council.
SECTION 5: This Resolution shall be effective immediately
upon its passage.
