R-2000- /g6 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, ADOPTING A MISSION STATEMENT; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the health, safety and welfare of the residents and employees of the City of Tamarac is a foremost concern of the City Commission of the City of Tamarac; and WHEREAS, the City Commission and staff of the City of Tamarac have been involved in a strategic planning process starting with the development of the Maior Issues II document in April, 1999; and WHEREAS, the City Commission agreed in June, 1999 upon the issues which City staff should focus its efforts; and WHEREAS, Tamarac 2000: A Strategic Plan for the qUt of Tamarac, a compilation of those action/work plans developed by staff committees and a "roadmap" for future City activities, was adopted by the City Commission in April 2000; and WHEREAS, a Mission Statement is a key component to a strategic planning process; and WHEREAS, the City Commission and staff of the City of Tamarac have been involved in the development of a Mission Statement for approximately one year; and WHEREAS, the City Commission and City staff discussed and agreed upon a draft Mission Statement at a Strategic Planning Workshop held on June 22, 2000; and WHEREAS, the City Manager recommends the City Commission adopt a Mission Statement; and Temp. Reso # 9070 - June 26, 2000 Page 2 WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida deems it to be in the best interest of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac adopt a Mission Statement. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA: Section 1: That the foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution. Section 2: That the City Commission of the City of Tamarac adopts the City of Tamarac Mission Statement as attached in Exhibit 1. Section 3: That all resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict. Section 4: That if any clause, section, other part of application of this Resolution is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or in application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portion or applications of this Resolution.
