RESOLUTION NO. R-97-.. 166
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA,
AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF
HERBICIDES AND ADDITIVES UTILIZING THE
SOUTH FLORIDA WATER MANAGEMENT
DISTRICT BID # 97-0049; AUTHORIZING AN
EXPENDITURE OF FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT
OF $16,368.00 FROM THE "CHEMICALS"
ACCOUNT # 161-417-539-527; PROVIDING
FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR
SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac, Public Works Department, requires the purchase
of herbicides and additives, Aquathol, Hydrothol, Polymer, (Corsair) and Polymer Sinking
Agent (Sinker) in the amount of $16,368.00; and
WHEREAS, these herbicides and additives are required to treat problems primarily
in the Woodlands canal system and recommended by University of Florida; and
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac Code §6-155 grants the Purchasing Officer the
authority to waive purchasing procedures and purchase from contracts with other
governmental agencies; and
WHEREAS, the South Florida Water Management District awarded Bid # 97-0049
for herbicides and additives shown as Exhibit 1" herein; and
WHEREAS, it is the recommendation of the Director of Public Works, Stormwater
Utility Engineer, Public Works Operations Manager and Purchasing/Contracts Manager to

purchase herbicides and additives utilizing the South Florida Water Management District
Bid #97-0049; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida deems it to be in
the best interests of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to utilize the South
Florida Water Management District bid for the purchase of herbicides and additives to
control nuisance aquatic weeds.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That the foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and
confirmed as being true and correct and is hereby made a specific part of this Resolution
upon adoption hereof.
SECTION 2: That the use of the South Florida Water Management District
Bid # 97-0049 for the purchase of various herbicides and additives is HEREBY
AUTHORIZED.
SECTION 3: That the funding in the amount of $16,368.00 from account
number 161-417-539-527 entitled "Chemicals" is HEREBY APPROVED.
SECTION 4: All resolutions or parks of resolutions in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 5: If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution
is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or

application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of this
Resolution.
SECTION 6: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its
passage and adoption.
