CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R-88- --3 O
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC AUTHORIZING
THE APPROPRIATE CITY OFFICIALS TO MAKE APPLICATION
FOR A HIGHWAY BEAUTIFICATION GRANT WITH THE
FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR COMMERCIAL
BOULEVARD FROM NORTHWEST 64th AVENUE TO NORTHWEST
88th AVENUE: AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, many roadside areas and median strips abutting Department of Trans--
portation rights -of -way areas must be maintained and attractively landscaped; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Council of the City of Tamarac wish to authorize
the appropriate City Officials to make application for a Highway Beautification Grant
between the City of Tamarac and Florida Department of Transportation for Commercial
Boulevard from Northwest 64th Avenue to Northwest 86th Avenue.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE C-TY OF 'TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION I: The City Council of the City of Tamarac hereby authorizes the
appropriate City Officials to apply for a Highway Beautiication Grant ',)atween the
City of Ta.r_iarac and the State of Florida Department of Tra.n.,poration 'or Commercial
Boulevard from Northwest 64th Avenue to Northwest 33th Avenue, a copy of said
application being attached hereto as "E..hibit A".
SECTION 2: The appropriate City Officials are hereby authorized to e.:ecute
all necessary agreements and documents associated with this grant request.
SECTION 3: The City Clerk of the City of Tamarac is ':icreby directed to send
copies of this Resolution to the Department of Transportation and all other persons
directed by the City Council.
SECTION 4: This resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage.

APPLICANT ASSURANCES: The person preparing this Application should initial

items should be contained in a resolution, passed by the local government's
governing body, which approves the application and authorizes the chief executive
officer of the local government to execute agreements and documents associated
with the grant.

who maintains the state highway section for which the Project is planned.

The project meets all. Department of Transportation requirements for safety
as related to the placement of plant materials within the right-of-way, line of sight
obstructions, and sight distance'
.(per Index 700 and the Department's Guidelines
for Landscaping Along State Highways).
The local governing body agrees to execute the attached Maintenance and
Grant Agreements, modified only to include the details of the responsibilities of
both the Department and the local government appropriate to this project,- if a
grant is awarded.
The local governing body understands the attributes to be used by the Highway
Beautification Council to prioritize all projects (listed in the last section of this
form), and has addressed all those attributes to the maximum extent possible.

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS: Please complete all items in this application, following
specific instructions carefully. All attached typed pages must be 81h" x 11 "; attached
sketches, plans, and maps must be no larger than 2' x 3' at an appropriate scale
with appropriate legends. When completed, 9 copies of the application form and
9 copies of all required sketches, plans (signed and sealed by a Registered Florida
Landscape Architect), cost estimates, and resolutions should be delivered to the
appropriate District Maintenance Engineer (addresses are on the last page) no
later than November 1, 1988 (starting in 1989, the due date will be February 1).
Please keep at least 2 copies, with original signatures, of all materials in your files;
these will be needed if you are awarded a grant (to be attached to the maintenance
and grant agreements). If you have any questions, please call the appropriate District
Maintenance Engineer for assistance.
