CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION APPOINTING ELLY JOHNSON AS CITY
MANAGER, PROVIDING THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS
OF EMPLOYMENT; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.

_ WHEREAS, the City Council has conducted a nationwide
survey to fill the present vacancy for City Manager; and
9 WHEREAS, applicants have been screened and interviewed;
10 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA.
SECTION 1: That Elly Johnson is hereby appointed as the
Tamarac City Manager under the following terms and
13 conditions:
a) Compensation -
14 Salary of $50,000 annually and car allowance of
$200 monthly. The City Manager shall be entitled
15 to ..the same cost of living increase as may be
granted under the Federation of Public Employees
contract.
b) Benefits -
Leave: The same sick, vacation, and personal leave
18 as provided in the present personnel manual as may
be amended if leave benefits are enhanced.
19 Insurance: The same health and life insurance
20 provided for general employees.
Pension: One year after the date of employment,
V the City will begin contributing 6% of the City
Manager's gross salary periodically to the City
pension plan or an alternative mutually agreeable
23 retirement program.
c) Probation: The first six months after appointment
24 there shall be a probationary period during which
time the City Manager may be discharged by the City
25 Council without cause. Upon satisfactory completion
of the probation period, there shall be a 4% in-
crease in salary.
d) Severance: After the probationary period has been
successfully completed, if the City Manager is
28 discharged by the City Council without cause, he
shall be entitled to the following severance pay
29 (in addition to payment for accrued leave as
provided in the personnel manual) which shall be
.30 the complete liquidated damages against the City.
"1 Within the first year after probation has been
completed, 4 weeks salary at the latest rate.
Within the second year after probation has been
33 completed, 8 weeks salary at the latest rate.
34 After two years following the probation being
completed, 12 weeks salary at the latest rate.

e) Other provisions: In all other respects the per-
sonnel manual shall apply.
SE ID-N .2_: This Resolution and appointment shall become
effective immediately upon its passage.
