CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R_:7�- fO
A RESOLUTION ENDORSING THE STATE OF FLORIDA, DEPARTMENT
OF TRANSPORTATION BIKEWAY GRANT CONCEPT; AND PROVIDING
AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, THE CITY OF TAMARAC has made a Formal Grant Application to the
State of Florida, Department of Transportation for financial assistance in
constructing an eight (8) foot wide bikepath along the west right-of-way line of
University Drive between Commercial Boulevard and Southgate Boulevard; and
WHEREAS, the State of Florida, Department of Transportation has approved
said grant for 60% of the overall construction costs conditioned upon developing
proper design plans, construction costs and finalizing the corridors location; and
WHEREAS, The City of Tamarac recognizes that final construction plans
and cost estimates are a prerequisite to finalizing the necessary contracts and
agreements,
TAMARAC:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SECTION I: The City of Tamarac endorses the State of Florida, Department
of Transportation Bikeway Grant concept conditioned upon reviewing and approving
final engineering plans, construction cost estimates and right-of-way acquisition
drawings prepared by the State of Florida, Department of Transportation's design
staff.
SECTION 2: The location of the bikeway will be adjacent to the west
right-of-way line of University Drive with primary emphasis on constructing the
Bikeway 100 feet west of the center line of University Drive at the west edge of
the right-of-way.
Where existing sidewalks are less than eight (8) feet wide, the City
desires that the Department of Transportation expand the existing surface to a
total width of eight (8') feet.
Where properties have no existing sidewalk, the bikeway shall be
constructed with asphalt material, unless concrete is determined to be appropriate
for a permanent installation.
SECTION 3: The City Clerk is directed to deliver copies of this
Resolution to the various officials in the State of Florida, Department of Trans-
portation currently assisting in the implementation of this project and
Representative Tom Gustafson, the Florida Legislative Liaison to the City of Tamarac.
