ORDINANCE NO. 2021- 00(o
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
TAMARAC, FLORIDA; AMENDING CHAPTER 2,
"ADMINISTRATION," ARTICLE III, "BOARDS, COMMITTEES,
COMMISSIONS" OF THE TAMARAC CODE OF ORDINANCES, BY
AMENDING SECTION 2, "SISTER CITIES COMMITTEE" PROVIDING
FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; PROVIDING
FOR CODIFICATION AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, on December 22, 1993, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac (the
"City")adopted Ordinance No.93-32(the"Ordinance"),thereby creating Division 13,of Chapter
2 of the City Code regarding a Sister Cities Committee(the"Committee"); and
1111 WHEREAS, on September 23, 2019, at its workshop meeting, the City Commission
expressed its desire for the appointment process for the Sister Cities committee to more closely
resemble the City's appointment process for its other advisory boards; and
WHEREAS, on September 25, 2019, the City adopted Resolution No. 2019-98, thereby
authorizing City staff to effectuate the City Commission direction regarding the re-establishment
of the City of Tamarac Sister Cities Program, including the execution of the required applications
and payment of the required fee for membership in Sister Cities International and exploration of
relationships with Sister Cities International member cities located in Caribbean countries, Latin
American countries, European countries, and in Israel; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission does recognize and endorse this program as a means
of establishing a lasting friendship between the people of different countries and the people of
Tamarac; and

WHEREAS, on February 12, 2020, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida
adopted an Ordinance 2020-02, thereby amending the Ordinance No. 93-32 that has initially
established the Sister Cities Committee on December 22, 1993 in order to provide for a consistent
process for appointments and establish a residency provision; and
WHEREAS, on January 27, 2021, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida
directed staff to amend the number of members on the Sister Cities Committee to five (5); and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida deems it to be in the
best interests of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to amend the number of members
that sit on the Sister Cities Committee.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Commission of the City of
Tamarac, Florida that: •
Section 1: The foregoing "WHEREAS" recitals are hereby ratified and confirmed as
being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Ordinance upon adoption hereof
Section 2: The City Commission hereby amends Chapter 2,entitled"Administration,"
of the Tamarac Code of Ordinances, by amending Sections 2-234.31 as follows:
Sec. 2-234.31. - Creation.
There is created and established a sister cities committee which shall be a
permanent agency of the city and which shall consist of seven (7) five (5)
members appointed by the city commission.
Section 3: It is the intention of the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida
that the provisions of this Ordinance shall become and be made a part of the Code of Ordinances
of the City of Tamarac, Florida, and that the Sections of this Ordinance may be renumbered, re- •

lettered and the word"Ordinance"may be changed to "Section," "Article" or such other word or
phrase in order to accomplish such intention.
Section 4: If any clause, section,or other part or application of this Ordinance shall be
held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid,such unconstitutional
or invalid part or application shall be considered as eliminated and so not affecting the remaining
portions or applications remaining in full force and effect.
Section 5: All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances, Resolutions or parts of Resolutions
in conflict herewith be and the same are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
Section 6: This Ordinance shall become effective immediately upon adoption.
