CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R-2021-
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, TO APPROVE A DONATION OF
SURPLUS OF MRE'S (MEAL -READY -TO -EAT) TO THE
NATIONAL FIREFIGHTERS ASSOCIATION OF PERU AT A
VALUE OF $5,587.20; AUTHORIZING THE APPROPRIATE
CITY OFFICIALS TO APPROVE THE MRE'S DONATION;
PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR
SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
WHEREAS, Tamarac Fire Chief has identified a surplus of unused MREs
which are nearing the expiration of their product shelf life; and
WHEREAS, these meals are still suitable for consumption, and the
National Firefighters Association of Peru is an entity that could immediately make
use of this product; and
WHEREAS, Tamarac Fire Rescue as part of the City's Emergency
Management plan ordered a supply of MREs for availability during natural
disasters, personnel deployment to disaster areas, and community nourishing
needs -,and
WHEREAS, MREs have a shelf life of five years and will expire in May
2021;and
WHEREAS, City Code Section 6.156.1(b)(4) Surplus Tangible Property
states any donation with a book value of greater than five thousand dollars
($5,000) shall be reported to the City Commission; and

WHEREAS, it is the recommendation of the Fire Chief that Tamarac
donates the MREs valued at $5,587.20 to the National Firefighters Association of
Peru.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: The foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and
confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this
Resolution.
SECTION 2: The City of Tamarac will donate MREs at a value of
$5,587.20 to the National Firefighters Association of Peru and the appropriate
City Officials are hereby authorized to execute the donation of MREs.
SECTION 3: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 4: If any clause, section, other part or application of this
Resolution is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or
invalid, in part or application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining
portions or applications of this Resolution.
SECTION 5: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its
passage and adoption.
