CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R-2021- '
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, APPROVING THE
REQUEST FOR RENAMING OF PUBLIC STREETS FOR
THE INCLUSION OF THE NAME, "DIANE GLASSER
TERRACE", TO THE EXISTING NUMBERED, "NW 108
TERRACE" AS MORE PARTICULARLY DEPICTED IN
EXHIBIT "1", ATTACHED HERETO; PROVIDING FOR
CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac approved Resolution No.
R-2021-032 adopting a "Policy for the Naming of Streets, Parks, and City-Owned
Facilities" on March 10, 2021; and
• WHEREAS, Resolution No. R-2021-032 repealed Resolution No. R-2003-253
entitled "Parks and Recreation Facilities Naming Policy" and Resolution No. R-2004-121
entitled "Renaming of Street Policy"; and
WHEREAS, such policy establishes guidelines and criteria for the naming or
renaming of public streets, parks and City-owned facilities within the City of Tamarac,
Florida; and
WHEREAS, a request for renaming of public streets has been requested by Vice-
Mayor Villalobos for the inclusion of the name, "Diane Glasser Terrace", to the existing
numbered, "NW 108 Terrace"; and
WHEREAS, NW 108 Terrace running north/south from NW 80 Street to W McNab
Road is a City of Tamarac maintained street; and
• WHEREAS, Diane Glasser served on the City Commission of the City of Tamarac
from 1991 to 1992, and again from 2008 to 2016 representing the Kings Point community;

WHEREAS, Diane Glasser served as a representative of the State of Florida in the
capacity a member of the Democratic National Committee for twenty-four (24) years; and
WHEREAS, Diane Glasser was a founding member of the Tamarac/Sawgrass
Democratic Club and was elected State Committeewoman on six (6) occasions; and
WHEREAS, Diane Glasser is an individual who has positively impacted the
community and has had outstanding achievement in public life as an outstanding civic
and community leader of local and state repute, as well as being a former member of the
City Commission of the City of Tamarac who was elected to serve two (2) terms; and
WHEREAS, the Director of Community Development recommends approval; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida deems it to be
in the best interests of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to approve the
request for renaming of public streets by Vice-Mayor Villalobos for the inclusion of the
name, "Diane Glasser Terrace", to the existing numbered, "NW 108 Terrace".
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: The foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and
confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this
Resolution. All exhibits attached hereto are incorporated herein and made a specific part
of this Resolution.

• SECTION 2: That the renaming of public streets request to allow the inclusion of
the name, "Diane Glasser Terrace", to the existing numbered, "NW 108 Terrace", is
hereby granted subject to the following conditions:
1 . Signs for renamed numbered streets shall include the former numbered street and
new name.
2. New street names shall remain in perpetuity and are not eligible to be changed
again unless City Commission deems it to be a necessity.
3. Street name change shall be coordinated with the County, State, or Federal
government.
4. City staff shall request the installation of new street signs from Broward County.
. SECTION 3: All Resolutions or parts of Resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby
repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 4: If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution is
held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or
application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of this
Resolution.
SECTION 5: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage
and adoption.
