CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R-2021 -
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, AFFIRMING
THE CITY'S COMMITMENT TO BUILDING A
DIVERSE AND INCLUSIVE COMMUNITY WHICH IS
A WELCOMING AND SAFE CITY; PROVIDING FOR
CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY;
AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, we recognize that diversity is a gift and is our future in the City of
Tamarac, and this diversity is a recognition of all those differences that encompasses
people of color, people with disabilities, mature individuals, LGBTQ+, people of
different faiths, beliefs, and cultural views and more; and,
1111 WHEREAS, Tamarac is the City for your life because it is a diverse City where
we celebrate the differences of our residents and employees. Our diversity is our
strength. We are a dynamic community and workplace because of the different
perspectives, abilities and experiences that we bring to the forefront; and
WHEREAS, we recognize that the City of Tamarac is unique, special, and a
forward-thinking environment that fosters a healthy community dialogue and
acceptance of all people; and
WHEREAS, the Cityof Tamarac is committed to makingdiversityand inclusion
a fundamental aspect of our community and is determined to lead the way forward in
making inclusiveness a priority in Tamarac; and
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac supports a diverse and inclusive community
where mutual respect and appreciation for all cultures, ethnicities, religions, genders
and differences represented in the community; and

WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac recognizes that governmental entities must
make equity and inclusion the cornerstone of the way we work, do business, and
govern in order to enjoy the full benefits of a rapidly changing and global society; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, deems it to be in the
best interests of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to foster an
environment for all individuals which enhances Tamarac's cultural fabric, economic
growth, global competitiveness, and overall prosperity for current and future
generations; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA THAT:
SECTION 1: The foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and
confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this
Resolution. All exhibits attached hereto are incorporated herein and made a specific
part of this Resolution.
SECTION 2: The City of Tamarac shall promote inclusion in all aspects of
government and the community. Inclusivity shall be achieved by treating all individuals
in a fair manner, providing access and opportunity for advancement for all people,
while striving to eliminate barriers that have prevented full participation in the past.
SECTION 3: The City of Tamarac shall encourage local businesses and
vendors of the City to work collaboratively to create an environment in which any
individual or group can feel welcomed, respected, supported, and valued regardless
of their age, race, ethnicity, country of origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, ability,
religion, income, political persuasion, or cultural practices.

SECTION 4: The City of Tamarac shall continue to adopt policies and
programs that improve our community's culture of inclusion; and lead by example to
encourage businesses, vendors, and other municipalities to create a safer and
welcoming environment for all.
SECTION 5: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 6: If any clause, section, other part or application of this Resolution
is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part
or application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of
this Resolution.

SECTION 7: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon
adoption.
