Special Meeting "Shade Session"
Monday, Nov. 1, 2021
CALL TO ORDER:
Mayor Gomez called the Special City Commission meeting, being held in Conference Room 105,
at City Hall, to order at 6:27 p.m.
ROLL CALL:
Present were, Mayor Michelle J. Gomez, Commission Mike Gelin, Commissioner Debra Placko
and Commissioner Marlon Bolton.
Also present were, Interim City Manager Kathleen Gunn, City Attorney John Herin, and Special
Counsel for the City, Robert Soloff and City Clerk Jennifer Johnson.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE:
Mayor Gomez led the Pledge of Allegiance.
1. Purpose:
City Attorney Herin stated the City Commission would be having an attomey-client session on
Monday, Nov. 1, 2021 at 6:27 p.m. in accordance with Section 286.011(8), Florida Statute
regarding the following lawsuit:
Peyton Whitfield vs. City of Tamarac, Florida: FMCS Case No. 180501-04152
The following persons will attend the attorney -client session, one or more whom may participate
remotely.
• Mayor, Michelle Gomez
• Commission Marlon Bolton
• Commissioner, Mike Gelin
• Commissioner, Debra Placko
• Interim City Manager, Kathleen Gunn
• City Attorney, John R. Herin
• Special Counsel for the City, Robert Soloff
• An official court reporter as provided by law, Oneida Del Toro of Veritext
Herin stated the length of the Attorney -Client Session will be approximately 30 minutes to 1-hour,
and the only item for discussion is the lawsuit. A court reporter will transcribe the shade meeting
and at the conclusion of the litigation, the transcript will be open to public inspection.
2. Executive Session:
City Attorney Herin stated we will now close the public meeting. All those whose name I did not
call must leave the Conference Room, and the attorney -client session will commence at 6:30 p.m.
City Clerk Johnson departed the meeting, and the executive session commenced.
At the conclusion of the executive session, City Clerk Johnson returned at 7:00 p.m., and
conducted an attendance roll call.
Present were, Mayor Michelle J. Gomez, Commission Mike Gelin, Commissioner Debra Placko
and Commissioner Marlon Bolton.
Also present were, Interim City Manager Kathleen Gunn, City Attorney John Herin, and Special
Counsel for the City, Robert Soloff and City Clerk Jennifer Johnson.
3. Adjournment
There being nothing further to discuss, the meeting adjourned at 7:01 p.m.

The City Commission may consider and act upon such other business as may come before it.
In the event this agenda must be revised, such revised copies will be available to the public at
the City Commission meeting.

made by the City Commission with respect to any matter considered at such meeting or
hearing, he may need to ensure that a verbatim record of the proceedings is made which
record includes the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is based.
