CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
ORDINANCE NO. 0-2022- 00
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, AMENDING CHAPTER 7 "FIRE
PREVENTION AND PROTECTION", BY REPEALING
SECTION 7-30, ENTITLED "FIRE ALARMS" IN ITS
ENTIRETY; PROVIDING FOR CODIFICATION; PROVIDING
FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Tamarac Code of Ordinances, Chapter 7, "Fire Prevention and
Protection", Section 7-30, entitled, "Fire Alarms", contains language that has evolved and
changed since its original adoption; and
WHEREAS, the existing language was last revised in 1997 and contains outdated
information, code sections and processes; and
WHEREAS, the Florida Fire Prevention Code is revised and re -adopted once
every three years by the State of Florida, State Fire Marshal's Office; and
WHEREAS, the Florida Fire Prevention Code has been updated to provide fire
departments the authority to act on newly installed and malfunctioning fire alarms under
sections 13.7.1.5 and 13.7.3 of National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1 and section
3.3.103 of NFPA 72; and
WHEREAS, the Tamarac Fire Chief recommends repealing section 7-30 titled
"Fire Alarms" in its entirety; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac has deemed it to be in
the best interest of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to amend Chapter 7,

Section 7-30, entitled, "Fire Alarms" as identified to be consistent with the Florida Fire
Prevention Code.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA THAT:
SECTION 1: The foregoing whereas clauses are hereby ratified and confirmed as
being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Ordinance upon
adoption hereof; all exhibits attached hereto are incorporated herein and made a specific
part thereof.
SECTION 2: The City Commission hereby amends Chapter 7, entitled "Fire
Prevention and Protection, Section 7-30, entitled "Fire Alarms" of the City Code, by
repealing Section 7-30 in its entirety as follows:

SECTION 4: It is the intention of the City Commission and it is hereby ordained
that the provisions of this Ordinance shall become and be made a part of the Code of
Ordinances of the City of Tamarac, Florida, and that the Sections of this Ordinance may
be renumbered or relettered and the word "Ordinance" may be changed to "Section",
"Article" or such other word or phrase in order to accomplish such intention.
SECTION 5: All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances, and Resolutions or parts of
Resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 6: If any provision of this Ordinance or the application thereof to any
person or circumstance is held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect other provisions or
applications of this Ordinance that can be given affect without the invalid provision or
application, and to this end the provisions of this Ordinance are declared to be severable.
SECTION 7: This Ordinance shall become effective immediately upon its passage
and adoption.
