CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R-2022 0-'S i
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, IN SUPPORT OF THE CITY OF
OAKLAND PARK'S N.W. 21 AVENUE IMPROVEMENT
PROJECT WHICH INCLUDES INSTALLATION OF
MEDIANS, WIDENING OF CURRENT BICYCLE LANES,
INSTALLATION OF SOLID/CONTINUOUS GREEN
BICYCLE LANES, NARROWING OF THE VEHICULAR
TRAVEL LANES, INSTALLATION OF IRRIGATION
SLEEVES, AND MILLING AND RESURFACING OF THE
ROADWAY, THE PROJECT LIMITS ARE FROM N.W. 26T"
STREET TO COMMERCIAL BLVD; PROVIDING FOR
CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) provides
funds to eligible local governments for transportation related projects, such as traffic
calming and bike facilities, through their Complete Streets and Other Localized Initiatives
Program (CSLIP); and
WHEREAS, the MPO will disburse competitive grant funding to local
governments based on applications submitted; and
WHEREAS, NW 21St Avenue from NW 26th Street to Commercial Boulevard was
evaluated and ranked by the MPO, then vetted and programmed in accordance to CSLIP
policies; and
WHEREAS, a Resolution from the City of Tamarac Commission stating support for
the project is required; and
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac desires to have green bike lanes; and

WHEREAS, the project is expected to aid in City's Strategic Goal #4, "Tamarac is
Vibrant", which states, "The City of Tamarac will provide resources, initiatives and
opportunities to continually revitalize our community and preserve the environment"; and
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac is willing to maintain the green bike lanes within
City boundaries after installation; and
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac endorses the Florida Department of
Transportation (FDOT) delivering the project on the City's behalf, fully administering the
design and construction phases of the project; and
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac endorses FDOT delivering the project within
Broward County's right of way within the City of Tamarac; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac supports the City of
Oakland Park's application for the NW 21st Avenue Improvements Project. The proposed
project (south of Oakland Park Boulevard) will be a continuation of the improvements
recently constructed north of Oakland Park Boulevard which includes the installation of
medians, widening of the current bicycle lanes, installation of solid/continuous green
bicycle lanes, narrowing of the vehicular travel lanes from 12 feet to 11 feet, installation
of irrigation sleeves for future irrigation, milling and resurfacing of the roadway. In addition
to the work south of Oakland Park Boulevard, other improvements to NW 21s' Avenue
include the installation of Solid/Continuous Green Bicycle lanes north of Oakland Park
Boulevard to Commercial; and
WHEREAS, approximately 425 feet of the NW 21st Avenue project area is located

within the boundaries of the City of Tamarac, and it is the responsibility of the City of
Tamarac to maintain or coordinate the maintenance of the project located within the City
of Tamarac Right -of -Way after the project's completion; and
WHEREAS, the proposed project supports current efforts to enhance multi -modal
transportation, wellness and recreational opportunities throughout Tamarac, and is
consistent with the transportation element of the City of Tamarac's Parks and Recreation
and Social Services Master Plan.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA THAT. -
SECTION 1: The foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and
confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution
upon adoption hereof. All Exhibits attached hereto are incorporated herein and made a
specific part of this resolution.
SECTION 2: The City Commission does HEREBY support the City of
Oakland Park's submission of an application to the Metropolitan Planning Organization
for funding for the NW 21 st Avenue Improvement Project for its FY 2023 Complete Streets
and Other Localized Initiatives Grant Program.
SECTION 3: All Resolutions or parts of Resolutions in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.

SECTION 4: If any clause, section, other part or application of this
Resolution is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid,
in part or application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications
of this Resolution.
