Special City Commission Meeting - Minutes
Tuesday, June 14, 2022
CALL TO ORDER: Mayor Gomez called the Tuesday, June 14, 2022, Special City
Commission Meeting, being held in Conference Room 105 to order at 6:00 p.m.
ROLL CALL: Mayor Michelle J. Gomez, Vice Mayor Mike Gelin, Commission Debra Placko,
Commissioner Marlon Bolton and Commissioner Elvin Villalobos were present.
Also present were City Manager Kathleen Gunn, City Attorney John R. Herin, Jr., Special
Counsel for the City, R. Max Lohman, Esq., and Acting City Clerk Kimberly Dillon.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Commissioner Elvin Villalobos led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Mayor Gomez read the purpose of the meeting into the record.
4a. PURPOSE: The City Commission will hold a Special Meeting on Tuesday, June 14,
2022, at or after 6 p.m. in Conference Room 105, City Hall, 7525 NW 88th Avenue,
Tamarac, Florida, 33321, to set a time for a'Shade' Session to discuss ongoing
Litigation.
City Attorney Herin read the case title "City of Tamarac, Florida vs Woodlands HB GP,
LLC: No. 4D21-3489; Case No. 21-019013 CACE (12)" into the record.
Attorney Herin left the meeting at 6:03 p.m.
Special Counsel for the City, R. Max Lohman requested to call a "Shade Session" regarding
District Court Of Appeal Of The State Of Florida, Fourth District
City of Tamarac, Florida, (Appellant/Plaintiff) v 13th Floor Woodlands HB GP, LLC,
(Appellee/Defendant): No. 41321-3489; Case No. 21-019013 CACE (12).
Mayor Gomez motioned to set the meeting date and time for the "Shade Session" on
Thursday, June 16, at 9:00 a.m. Commissioner Villalobos seconded the motion. Motion
passed unanimously 5-0.
There being nothing further to discuss, Mayor Gomez adjourned the meeting at 6:05 p.m.
