RESOLUTION NO. R-2022-�
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
TAMARAC, FLORIDA AUTHORIZING THE APPROPRIATE CITY
OFFICALS TO SUBMIT A GRANT APPLICATION FOR THE
BROWARD BOATING IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM THROUGH THE
BROWARD COUNTY MARINE ADVISORY COMMITTEE FOR THE
CONSTRUCTION OF THE CAPORELLA PARK NON -MOTORIZED
BOAT LAUNCH AND DOCK FOR GRANT FUNDING IN THE
AMOUNT OF $55,000; PROVIDING FOR A MATCH IN LOCAL
FUNDS IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $13,750 IN THE EVENT
OF APPROVAL OF THE GRANT APPLICATION; PROVIDING FOR
ACCEPTANCE OF THE AWARD AND EXECUTION OF NECESSARY
DOCUMENTS PENDING LEGAL REVIEW; PROVIDING FOR
CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY, AND PROVIDING
FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Florida Statutes provide that municipalities shall have the
governmental, corporate, and proprietary powers to enable them to conduct municipal
government, perform municipal functions and render municipal service, and exercise
any power for municipal purposes, except when expressly prohibited by law; and
WHEREAS, Article IV, Section 4.07 of the City Charter of the City of Tamarac
("City) empowers the City to adopt, amend or repeal such ordinances and resolutions as
may be required for the proper governing of the City; and
WHEREAS, the City desires to enrich the quality of life by improving parks and
amenities throughout the City; and
WHEREAS, the City's Parks and Recreation Department strives to increase

access to boating facilities to residents; and
WHEREAS, the Broward Boating Improvement Program (BBIP) through the
Broward County Marine Advisory Committee (MAC) provides funding to local
governments who desire to improve recreational boating facilities; and
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac wishes to enhance Caporella Park and included
the project in the City of Tamarac FY2022 Capital Improvement Program budget; and
WHEREAS, the Caporella Park Enhancement Project will include a non -
motorized boat launch and floating dock; and
WHEREAS, the scope of the project includes the non -motorized boat launch with
floating dock, piles, abutment, and a concrete pathway from the parking lot to the boat
dock; and
WHERAS, the grant application to (BBIP) will be in the amount of $55,000 for the
above -mentioned support elements; and
WHEREAS the City of Tamarac is required a twenty five percent match of local
funding in an amount not to exceed $13,750; and
WHEREAS, the Directors of Parks and Recreation and Financial Services
recommend submission of the BBIP grant application and acceptance of the award in
the event of approval, and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA THAT:
Section 1: The foregoing recitals are true and correct and hereby adopted as
the legislative and administrative findings of the City Commission; all exhibits attached

hereto are incorporated herein and made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: The City Commission of the City of Tamarac HEREBY provides
approval of an application to be submitted to the Broward County Marine Advisory
Committee for the Broward Boating Improvement Grant Program in the amount of
$55,000 with a local match not to exceed $13,750 and in the event of approval
authorizes the acceptance of the award and further authorizes the appropriate City
officials to execute the grant agreement.
Section 3: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby
repealed to the extent of such conflict.
Section 4: If any clause, section, other part, or application of this Resolution is
held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or
application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of this
Resolution.
Section 5: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon adoption.
