R-2022 - 1a 1 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE NOVEMBER 8, 2022, GENERAL ELECTION FOR MAYOR -AT -LARGE, CITY COMMISSION DISTRICT 2 AND CITY COMMISSION DISTRICT 4; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SCRIVENER ERRORS, PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, a General Election was held on November 8, 2022, wherein the electorate of the City of Tamarac elected one candidate for the Office of Mayor - at -Large, one candidate for the Commission Representative from District 2 and one candidate for the Office of Commission Representative from District 4 ; and WHEREAS, the Broward County Canvassing Board has canvassed the results of the machine voting and absentee ballots and has certified such results to the City Clerk of the City of Tamarac ("Clerk"); and WHEREAS, the Clerk has reviewed the certification from the Broward County Canvassing Board and has presented its findings to the City Commission for a formal Certification and Declaration of the results; and WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida, deems it to be in the best interests of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to declare the results of the November 8, 2022, General Election for Mayor -at -Large, City Commission District 2 and City Commission District 4. FIN 140051941.1 Temp. Reso. #13869 November 21, 2022 Page 2 of 4 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA THAT: Section 1. The foregoing whereas clauses are ratified and confirmed as being true and correct, are the legislative and administrative findings of the City Commission and made a specific part of this Resolution; all exhibits referenced and attached hereto are incorporated herein and made a specific part of this Resolution. Section 2. The following are the certified results of the votes received by candidates seeking the Office of Mayor -at -Large at the General Election held November 8, 2022: Mike Gelin 10,165 Michelle J. Gomez 12,808 Michelle J. Gomez, having received the highest number of votes cast is therefore declared to have been elected as Mayor -at -Large, of the City of Tamarac for a term of four years. Section 3. The following are the certified results of the votes received by candidates seeking the Office of Commission Representative from District 2 at the General Election held November 8, 2022: Alexandra Alvarez 1,117 Joseph Lanouette 764 Stuart R. Michelson 1,384 Tyneka M. Rene 385 140051941.1 Temp. Reso. #13869 November 21, 2022 Page 3of4 Morey Wright 1,746 Morey Wright, having received the highest number of votes cast is therefore declared to have been elected as Commission Representative, District 2, of the City of Tamarac for a term of four years. Section 4. The following are the certified results of the votes received by candidates seeking the Office of Commission Representative from District 4 at the General Election held November 8, 2022: Kicia Daniel 2,168 Carol Mendelson 1,630 David W. Mountford 1,102 Kicia Daniel, having received the highest number of votes cast is therefore declared to have been elected as Commission Representative, District 4, of the City of Tamarac for a term of four years. Section 5. All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict. Section 6. Any scrivener or typographical errors that do not affect intent may be corrected with notice to and authorization of the City Attorney and City Manager without further process. Section 7. If any clause, section, other part, or application of this Resolution is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or 140051941.1 Temp. Reso. #13869 November 21, 2022 Page 4 of 4 invalid, in part or application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of this Resolution. Section 8. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage and adoption.
