CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
RESOLUTION NO. R-2023 - lam
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, SUPPORTING
THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF
TRANSPORTATION PROJECT DEVELOPMENT
AND ENVIRONMENT STUDY (PD&E) AND BUILD
ALTERNATIVES FOR THE WIDENING OF
FLORIDA'S TURNPIKE FROM SOUTH OF
INTERSTATE 595 TO WILES ROAD IN BROWARD
COUNTY, WITH TWO POTENTIAL NEW
INTERCHANGES ON OAKLAND PARK BOULEVARD
AND CYPRESS CREEK ROAD/MCNAB ROAD;
PROVIDING FOR CODIFICATION; PROVIDING FOR
CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY,
AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac has many businesses and residents that
rely on the South Florida regional transportation network; and
and
WHEREAS, the Florida Turnpike is a key link in that transportation network;
WHEREAS, the Department of Transportation (Department) has done
extensive work in developing and evaluating alternatives to address both local
and regional needs, and
WHEREAS, the Department has facilitated extensive public engagement
and has explained the alternatives, solicited input, and incorporated changes
throughout the study; and
WHEREAS, the Department presented Build Alternatives that address the
purpose and need of the project including three Build Alternatives to widen the

Florida Turnpike from south of Interstate 595 to Wiles Road, in Broward County;
and
WHEREAS, the Department has evaluated the positive and negative
impacts of each alternative, and has also considered a No -Build Alternative; and
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac supports the alternative that widens the
Florida Turnpike from south of 1-595 to Wiles Road in Broward County, with two
potential new interchanges at Oakland Park Boulevard and Cypress Creek Road/
McNab Road, to improve and enhance the transportation network that is relied
upon by both our residents and businesses.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA THAT:
SECTION 1: The foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified and
confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this
Resolution. All exhibits attached hereto are incorporated herein and made a
specific part of this Resolution.
SECTION 2: The City Commission hereby supports the Florida Department
of Transportation Build Alternatives for Florida's Turnpike.
SECTION 3: The appropriate City Officials are authorized to take any and
all actions necessary to effectuate the intent of this Resolution.
SECTION 4: All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 5: If any clause, section, other part or application of this
Resolution is held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or

invalid, in part or application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions
or applications of this Resolution.
SECTION 6: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon
adoption.
