A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, AWARDING BID 23-41 B
TO, AND APPROVING THE PURCHASE FROM, ZONES,
INC. FOR THE PURCHASE OF NEW CISCO SYSTEMS
CATALYST 9300 NETWORK SWITCHES AT A COST OF
$157,812.36, AND R2 UNIFIED TECHNOLOGIES, LLC
FOR THE PURCHASE OF NEW CISCO SYSTEMS
NEXUS 9300 DATA CENTER NETWORK SWITCHES AT
A COST OF $55,613.86, FOR A TOTAL PURCHASE
COST OF $213,426.22; AUTHORIZING EXPENDITURES
FROM THE APPROPRIATE ACCOUNTS; PROVIDING
FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SCRIVENER
ERRORS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Florida Statutes provide that municipalities shall have the
governmental, corporate, and proprietary powers to enable them to conduct municipal
government, perform municipal functions, and render municipal service, and exercise any
power for municipal purposes, except when expressly prohibited by law; and
WHEREAS, Article IV, Section 4.07 of the City Charter of the City of Tamarac
("City") empowers the City to adopt, amend, or repeal such ordinances and resolutions
as may be required for the proper governing of the City; and
WHEREAS, technology is one of the key components in the efficient delivery of
City services, and the City's network infrastructure is critical to ensuring continued
operations; and

WHEREAS, the City's existing Cisco Systems network infrastructure is aging, has
reached the end of its operational life and additionally requires expansion due to past as
well as future additions to the network; and
WHEREAS, replacement is necessary to support continued operations and to
alleviate issues related to increasing data/network traffic, use and capacity/performance
requirements; and
WHEREAS, the City published Invitation for Bid (IFB) 23-41 B to obtain bids from
qualified firms for the purchase of thirteen (13) Cisco Systems network switches, available
on file with the City Clerk's Office; and
WHEREAS, eight (8) proposals were received for the eleven (11) new Cisco
Catalyst 9300 network switches, with costs as indicated below:

WHEREAS, eight (8) proposals were received for the two (2) new Cisco Nexus
9300 Data Center network switches, with costs as indicated below:

and
WHEREAS, proposals from Zones, Inc. and R2 Unified Technologies, LLC were
the lowest responsible and responsive bids for their respective types of network switches;
and
WHEREAS, funding is available in the Information Technology Capital
Maintenance Program (CMP) budget; and
WHEREAS, it is the recommendation of the Chief Information Officer and the
Purchasing and Contracts Manager that the City Commission of the City of Tamarac
award Bid 23-41 B, and issue Purchase Orders, to Zones, Inc. for the purchase of new
Cisco Systems Catalyst 9300 network switches at a cost of $157,812.36, and to R2
Unified Technologies, LLC for the purchase of new Cisco Systems Nexus 9300 data
center network switches at a cost of $55,613.86, for a total purchase cost of $213,426.22"
and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, deems it to be in
the best interests of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac to award Bid 23-
41 B, and issue Purchase Orders, to Zones, Inc. for the purchase of new Cisco Systems
Catalyst 9300 network switches at a cost of $157,812.36, and to R2 Unified Technologies,
LLC for the purchase of new Cisco Systems Nexus 9300 data center network switches at
a cost of $55,613.86, for a total purchase cost of $213,426.22.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA THAT:
Section 1. The foregoing recitals are true and correct and hereby adopted as
the legislative and administrative findings of the City Commission; all exhibits attached
hereto are incorporated herein and made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2. The City Commission awards Invitation For Bid (IFB) No. 23-41 B to
Zones, Inc. for the purchase of new Cisco Systems Catalyst 9300 network switches at a
cost of $157,812.36, and to R2 Unified Technologies, LLC for the purchase of new Cisco
Systems Nexus 9300 data center network switches at a cost of $55,613.86, for a total
purchase cost of $213,426.22; and authorizes the appropriate City Officials to execute
Purchase Orders to Zones, Inc. for the purchase of new Cisco Systems Catalyst 9300
network switches at a cost of $157,812.36, and to R2 Unified Technologies, LLC for the
purchase of new Cisco Systems Nexus 9300 data center network switches at a cost of
$55,613.86, for a total purchase cost of $213,426.22.
Section 3. Funding is available for the purchase of Cisco Systems network
switches from the appropriate accounts for a total cost not to exceed $213,426.22.
Section 4: The City Manager or Designee is hereby authorized to approve
additional new purchases from both Zones, Inc. and R2 Unified Technologies, LLC up to
a total of $65,000 each, in accordance with the Tamarac Procurement Code, during the
current fiscal year and for succeeding fiscal years for the duration of this agreement.
Section 5. All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby
repealed to the extent of such conflict.

Section 6. Any scrivener or typographical errors that do not affect intent of this
Resolution may be corrected with notice to and authorization of the City Attorney and City
Manager without further process.
Section 7. If any clause, section, other part, or application of this Resolution is
held by any court of competent jurisdiction to be unconstitutional or invalid, in part or
application, it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions or applications of this
Resolution.

Section 8. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon adoption.
