CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
ORDINANCE NO.
AN ORDINANCE REQUIRING REGISTRATION AND FINGERPRINTING
OF PERSONS EMPLOYED IN OR ENGAGED IN CERTAIN OCCUPATIONS
AND/OR BUSINESSES; ESTABLISHING A FEE THEREFORE;
PROVIDING FOR THE ISSUANCE AND CARRYING OF IDENTIFI-
CATION CARDS; PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR VIOLATIONS;
PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE; REPEALING ALL LAWS IN
CONFLICT; TAND, PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, Florida:
SECTION 1: Registration and Fingerprinting of Certain
Persons Required.
Every person who manages, employs, or is employed in any
bar, saloon, night club, hotel, apartment house, restaurant,
service station, pool or billiard parlor, golf or country club,
persons 17 years of age or older engaged in lawn and/or yard
maintenance and personnel, 17 years of age or older, engaged in
the business of private garbage and trash collection, all
domestic help, chauffeurs, and all persons engaged in selling,
soliciting or demonstrating or otherwise calling from house to
house or store to store within the city shall register in a
book of registration to be kept by the police department, and
shall be fingerprinted and photographed. Prior to employing
any person to perform any of the above specified work, or to
continue to perform such work, the employer is required to verify
that such persons have registered in compliance with the
provisions of this section.
SECTION 2: Fee.
A fee of three dollars ($3.00) shall be paid by each
employee registered, fingerprinted, and photographed as required
by the foregoing section. Persons licensed to engage in or manage
businesses set forth in said section shall be required to register
and be fingerprinted and photographed, but shall not be required
to pay a registration fee.
SECTION 3: Duration of Registration.
Each registration shall be valid for a period of one
year from the date of issuance.
SECTION 4: Issuance of Identification.
That each person registering under this Ordinance shall
be issued an I.D. Card containing the photograph, thumb print
and signature of such person as well as his name, address, place
of employment and description. Failure to carry such Identification
or to display the same upon request of any person while in the
city limits of the City of Tamarac shall constitute a violation of
this Ordinance.
SECTION 5: Any failure to register under this Ordinance or
otherwise fail to comply herewith, including the furnishing of
false information shall be punishable by imprisonment for not more
than thirty (30) days or by a fine of not more than One Hundred
Dollars ($100.00) or by both such fine and imprisonment, in the
discretion of the Municipal. Nudge.
SECTION 6: Should any section or provision of this Ordinance
or any portion thereof, or any paragraph, word or sentence be
declared by a court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, such
decision shall not affect the validity of the remainder hereof,
other than the part declared to be invalid.
SECTION 7: All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in conflict
herewith be and the same are hereby repealed.
SECTION 8: This Ordinance shall become effective immediately
upon its final passage.
