CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
ORDINANCE NO.
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCES NO. 1-64,
72--6, AND 73--60, KNOWN AS THE ZONING ORD-
INANCES OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, WHICH MAY
ALLOW SCHOOLS AND DAY NURSERIES AS SPECIAL
EXCEPTIONS IN ANY RESIDENTIAL DISTRICT,-'
EXCEPT SINGLE FAMILY RESIDENTIAL DISTRICTS;
PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE; REPEALING ALL
LAWS IN CONFLICT; AND PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission recommended to the
City Council that certain specific uses be allowed in residential
districts excepting single family residential districts by
special use exception; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has concluded that because
of the adult communities which are prevalent in single family
districts in the City of Tamarac; and
WHEREAS, the City Council is desirous of providing a
buffer zone between location of a day nursery and sinrgle family
residential districts.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That Section 17.2 of Ordinances No. 1-64,
72-6 and 73-60 be amended to read as follows:
Section 17.2 SPECIAL EXCEPTIONS ENUMERATED
In any residential district except single family residential
districts:
1. Public, private or parochial schools.
2. Day nurseries which shall be defined as places for the
day care and instruction of children not remaining overnight;
provided however in no event shall a special exception be granted
wherein the property proposed as the site for a day nursery is
within 300 feet of a single family residential district.
SECTION 2: Should any section o*&, provision of this
Ordinance or any portion hereof, or any paragraph, sentence or
word be declared by a Court of competent jurisdiction to be
invalid, such decision shall not affect the validity of the

remainder hereof as a whole or any part hereof, other than the
part declared to be invalid.
SECTION 3: All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in
conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such
conflict.
SECTION 4: This Ordinance shall become effective
immediately upon its final passage.
