CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
ORDINANCE NO. -2
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 24,
ARTICLE V, SECTION 24-26(c) OF THE
CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF
TAMARAC; PROVIDING FOR THE LOCATION
OF FIRE HYDRANTS; PROVIDING A SAV-
INGS CLAUSE; REPEALING ALL LAWS AND
PROVISIONS OF THE TAMARAC CITY CODE
IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the NFPA Handbook (Thirteenth Addition) advises
that good safety practices requires a shorter distance between fire
hydrants and improved property, and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Tamarac, upon
investigation and inquiry, deems it advisable and in the best
interest of the health, safety and welfare of the citizenry of the
City of Tamarac, Florida, to provide for a lesser distance between
buildings and fire hydrants than is provided in the applicable laws
and Ordinances of the City of Tamarac,
NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: Section 24-26(c) of Article V of Chapter 24
of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Tamarac, is hereby amended
to read as follows:
Section 24-26. Design and construction_
standards.
Sec. 24-26(c) Fire hydrants. Fire hydrants
shall be placed on lines six inches or larger
and shall be spaced so that all building areas
of lots and parcels are within a radius of
three hundred (300) feet of the buildings to
be protected.
SECTION 2: All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances, and
all provisions of the Tamarac City Code in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 3: Should any Section or provision of this
Ordinance or any portion hereof or any paragraph, sentence or word
be declared by a Court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid,
such decision shall not effect the validity of the remainder hereof
as a whole or any part hereof other than the part declared to be
invalid.
SECTION 4: This Ordinance becomes effective immediately
upon its passage.
