CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
ORDINANCE NO. 0-78- 216
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE 0-78-19,
AND AMENDING CHAPTER 7, BUILDING, DIVISION
4, SECTION 7- 31, ROOFSCAPES , OF THE CODE OF
THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA; PROVIDING A
SAVI-NGS CLAUSE AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
WHEREAS, the Federal government has recommended a policy of
energy conservation, and
WHEREAS, wind driven turbines are needed to effectively
reduce heat and conserve energy, and
WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to amend Ordinance 0-78-19,
and Cli.apter 7, Building, Division 4, Section 7-31, Roofscapes, of
the Tamarac City Code, to promote the utilization of wind driven
turbines to reduce energy consumption.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That Section 3 of Ordinance 0-78-19,being Chapter 7,
Build, Division 4, Section 7-31, Roofscapes, of the Code of the
City of Tamarac, is hereby amended to read as follows:
SECTION 7-31 ROOFSCAPES
The height of exterior walls of all buildings
in all zoning districts except R-1, R-IB, R-lC, and
R--2 s-hall be higher than the total height of all
accessory equipment installed on the roof of the
proposed building other than that which is wind
driven.
All air conditioning units, condensers, and/
or electrical fans attendant thereto except those that are
wind driven shall be prohibited from being installed on
residential and accessory roof areas in R-1, R-1B, R-IC,
and R-2 zoning districts, unless the same shall meet
the following requirements:
1. The proposed air conditioning unit shall
be placed on a structural element meeting the re-

quirements of the South Florida Building Code,
Broward Edition.
2. The proposed plans accompanied by fee,
shall be submitted to and approved by the Tamarac
Building Department.
3. Permanent, obscure screen shall be placed
along all sides of the unit which is viewed by the
public, the minimum height of which shall be one
foot above the top of the unit.
SECTION 2:
Should any section or provision of this Ordinance
or any portion hereof, or any paragraph, sentence, or word be declared
by a court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, such decision shall
not affect the validity of the remainder as a whole or any part hereof
other than the part to be declared invalid.
SECTION 3:
All Ordinances or part of Ordinances in conflict
herewith -be and the same are hereby repealed, to the extent of such
conflict.
SECTION 4: This ordinance shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage,
