CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
ORDINANCE NO. 0-
AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING LANDING AND TAKEOFFS
OF HOT-AIR BALLOONS WITHIN A HALF MILE OF ANY
RESIDENCE IN THE CITY OF TAMARAC; PROVIDING FOR
CODIFICATION; PROVIDING REPEALER; PROVIDING FOR
SEVERABILITY OF INVALID PROVISIONS AND PROVIDING
AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, hot-air balloons are extremely pleasing to the
eye -and have the tendency to attract substantial attention From
people on the ground, and
WHEREAS, said balloons have been increasing in numbers
significantly in South Florida, and
WHEREAS, a number of these balloons have landed in the
City of Tamarac, causing traffic to become congested due to rubber-
necking, and
WHEREAS, this is a significant traffic hazard, and
WHEREAS, the landing may also damage overhead wires
within the City.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That no hot-air balloons may land or take -off
within a half mile of any residence within the City of Tamarac.
SECTION 2: Specific authority is granted to codify this
Ordinance in Chapter 17, Offenses - Miscellaneous of the Tamarac
City Code.
SECTION 3: All ordinances or parts of ordinances in
conflict herewith are repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 4: Should any section or provision of this
ordinance or any portion hereof or any paragraph, sentence or word
be declared by a Court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, such
decision shall not affect the validity of the remainder hereof as
a whole or any part hereof other than the part declared to be
invalid.

SECTION 5: This ordinance shall become effective immediately
