AN ORDINANCE CONCERNING THE FOLLOWING PROPOSED
AMENDMENTS TO THE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC
PROPOSED BY THE CHARTER BOARD FOR THE MARCH 13, 1984
BALLOT:
AMENDMENTS TO SECTIONS 4.02 AND 8.01 LIMITING THE NUMBER
OF CONSECUTIVE TERMS AN ELECTED OFFICIAL MAY HOLD
OFFICE;
AMENDMENTS TO SUBSECTION 8.02(b) AMENDING THE PROVISIONS
FOR THE CHARTER BOARD TO PROPOSE AMENDMENTS TO THE
CHARTER;
AMENDMENTS TO SUBSECTIONS 8.02(c), (d) and (e) MAKING
CERTAIN DUTIES OF THE CHARTER BOARD MANDATORY
INSTEAD OF OPTIONAL;
AMENDMENTS TO SECTION 6.03 AMENDING THE REDISTRICTING
PROCEDURE;
AMENDMENTS TO SECTION 7.03 REPEALING THE "UNANTICIPATED
REVENUE" EXCEPTION TO THE UNAPPROPRIATED SURPLUS
LIMITATION IN THE CHARTER;

AMENDMENTS TO SECTION 13.02 REGARDING ANNEXATION
PROCEDURES;
AMENDMENTS TO SECTION 7.14 REGARDING THE CONSULTANTS'
COMPETITIVE NEGOTIATIONS FOR PROFESSIONAL SERVICES;
PROVIDING THAT IF ANY OF THE QUESTIONS ARE APPROVED BY A
MAJORITY OF THE VOTERS AT THE MARCH 13, 1984 ELECTION
THEN SUCH QUESTIONS SHALL BECOME AMENDMENTS TO THE
CHARTER OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC UPON CERTIFICATION AND
ACCEPTANCE OF THE ELECTION RESULTS; PROVIDING FOR
SEVERABILITY OF INVALID PROVISIONS; AND PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City's Charter Board and Council have
suggested amendments to various provisions in the City
Charter; and
WHEREAS, hearings have been conducted concerning the
Charter amendments by both the City Council and by the
Charter Board.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
1 THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:

3 SECTION ---I: That the following proposed amendments are
4 to be presented to the electorate of the City of Tamarac at
5 its March 13, 1984 election and if any of the following
proposed amendments are approved by a majority of the
electorate at said election the approved proposed amendments
8 shall become amendments to the City Charter:

11 the elected officials of the City (Mayor, Councilmembers
12 and Charter Board Members) may only be elected to any
13 particular office for two (2) consecutive terms
14 (totalling four (4) years). This would amend Sections
15 4.02 and 8.01 of the City Charter.

construction, or acquisition. Presently the Charter
requires a referendum for approval of such contracts if
the contract amount is in excess of $75,000 or two and

This proposed amendment would reduce the amount to one
and one-half percent (1-1/2%). This would amend Section
7.13 of the City Charter.

Any elector resident of the city may be a candidate for

file a verified notice of candidacy in such form as may
be required by <muAiCip&1>. law with the city clerk, and
pay such fees as may be required by law.

Temporary Ordinance No. 1074 (Rev. 12/22/83) was passed
by City Council on Second Reading on December 22, 1983. Section
Two of this Ordinance listed the following proposed Amendments to
