Ord. #1113 Rev. 5/23/84 1 Rev. 7/11/84 2 CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA 3 ORDINANCE NO. 0-84--30 4 5 AN ORDINANCE CONCERNING A PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO SECTION 4.04 OF THE CITY CHARTER REGARDING CITY COUNCIL EXPENSES; PROVIDING FOR A REFER- ENDUM TO BE HELD ON SEPTEMBER 4TH, 1984; PROVIDING THAT IF A MAJORITY OF THE VOTERS APPROVE THE PROPOSED AMENDMENT THEN IT SHALL 8 - BECOME AN AMENDMENT TO THE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC UPON CERTIFICATION AND 9 ACCEPTANCE OF THE ELECTION RESULTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY OF INVALID PROVISIONS; PRO-w 10 VIDING FOR CODIFICATION; AND PROVIDING AN Ef F CTIV DATE,.___ WHEREAS, the City Council has considered the following 13 amendment to Section 4.04 of the City Charter in an effort to 14 minimize the cost of accounting and administrative expense, 15 and has held a public hearing on the subject; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA: 8SECT ON 1: That the following proposed amendment is to 19 be presented to the electorate of the City of Tamarac at the 20 September 41 1984 election and if the proposed amendment is 21 approved by a majority of the electorate at said election the 22 approved proposed amendment shall become an amendment to the 23 City Charter upon certification and acceptance of the 4 election results by the City Council: B=: An Amendment providing the Mayor 26 and Councilmembers with a business expense allowance. 27 The Mayor will receive $3,000 per year, and each other 28 Councilmember will receive $2,000 per year. The allow-- 29 ance shall be paid in equal monthly payments. Council y0 may approve additional extraordinary expenses for out- 31 side Dade, Broward and Palm Beach Counties. SECTION 2: Should any section or provision of this ordinance or any portion hereof or any paragraph, sentence or word be declared by a Court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, such decision shall not affect the validity of the remainder hereof as a whole or any part hereof other than the part declared to be invalid. SZ�MQN3 : Specific authority is hereby granted to codify this ordinance. SECTION 4: This ordinance shall become effective immediately upon its adoption, and the appropriate City officials are authorized to take whatever actions are neces- sary to see that these matters are placed on the September 4, 1984 ballot. if approved, the mayor and other city council members shall begin receiving the monthly allowance for the month in which the election results are certified. The annual expense allowance shall not exceed the maximum amounts provided in sec. 4.04 of the City Charter based on an election year. PASSED FIRST READING this ����day of 1984.
