AN ORDINANCE AMENDING PORTIONS OF CHAPTER 2
5 OF THE CITY CODE REGARDING THE WELCOMING
COMMITTEE; ESTABLISHING A MINIMUM OF FIVE (5)
REGULAR MEMBERS AND REPEALING THE PROVISION
LIMITING THE NUMBER OF REGULAR MEMBERS TO
7 TWELVE (12) AS PROVIDED IN SECTION 2-28;-
AMENDING THE FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
8 OF THE COMMITTEE PROVIDED IN SECTION 2-29;
PROVIDING FOR CODIFICATION; PROVIDING FOR
9 REPEALER; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY OF IN-
VALID PROVISIONS; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE
10 DATE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TAM-
ARAC, FLORIDA:
13 SECTION 1: That Section 2-28 of the City Code is hereby
Amended to read as follows:
14 "There is hereby created a welcoming com-
mittee which shall be composed of <-a -ma*i-mwu-

members. Members shall serve at the pleasure
of the city council."
17 5F.CTjON__2: That Section 2-29 of the City Code is hereby
18 Amended to read as follows:
19 "The welcoming committee is intended to work
with the city council and the city adminis-
20 tration to educate new citizens concerning
the working of government and how to famil-
21 iarize themselves with the new community in
which they will be living. The committee
ZZ shall:
23 (1) Invite <4ew-> residents to attend a
portion of a council meeting;
1 (2) Conduct tours of city hall;
(3) Provide for question -and -answer periods
regarding such items as tax, recreation
26 and functions of different portions of
27 city government; and
(4) Perform such other tasks as the council
28
may assign to the' committee."
29 SEC_N_,.3.: That specific authority is hereby granted to
codify this Ordinance.

SNTION_._A: All ordinances or parts of ordinances in
;1 conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such
conflict.

SECTION 5: Should any section or provision of this
Ordinance or any portion thereof, or any paragraph, sentence
or word be declared by a Court of competent jurisdiction to
be invalid, such decision shall not affect the validity of
the remainder hereof as a whole or any part hereof, other
than the part declared to be invalid.
SECTION �k: This Ordinance shall become effective
immediatly upon its final passage.
