ORDINANCE NO. 0-85:_-�
AN ORDINANCE REPEALING SECTION 2--45 (FORMERLY
SECTION 2-30) OF THE TAMARAC CITY CODE (ORD-
INANCE 0-84-31 AS AMENDED) ENTITLED "LAW
ADVISORY COMMITTEE"; PROVIDING FOR CODIFICA-
TION; PROVIDING A REPEALER; PROVIDING FOR
SEVERABILITY OF INVALID PROVISIONS; AND

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC,
FLORIDA:
S_E_CTQN-1: That Section 2-45 (formerly Section 2-30) of
the Tamarac City Code (Ordinance 0--84-31 as amended) entitled
"Law Advisory Committee" which is attached hereto as Exhibit 1
is hereby repealed.
SE TION2-: Specific authority is hereby granted to codify
this Ordinance.
SECT10.N1...____1: All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in
conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such
conflict.
SUMOR : Should any section or provision of this
Ordinance or any portion thereof, or any paragraph, sentence or
word be declared by a Court of competent jurisdiction to be
invalid, such decision shall not affect the validity of the
remainder hereof as whole or any part hereof, other than the
part declared to be invalid.
�ECT10� This Ordinance shall take effect immediately
upon its final approval.

ESTABLISHING ADVISORY CO_MMITTE�EPRO-
VIDING FOR MEMBERSHIP OF SAID COMMITTEE; PRO-
VIDING DUTIES; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY;
PROVIDING FOR CODIFICATION; AND PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.

WHEREAS, City Council desires to repeal Resolution No. R-77-18
which created an Advisory Code Study Commission and replace it with a Law
Advisory Committee; and
WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to put the available legal
talents of its residents to productive use; and
WHEREAS, Section 4.08 of the City Charter authorizes the City
Council to create advisory boards by Ordinance:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
1F TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That Section 2-46 of the Tamarac Code is hereby
treated to provide as follows:
"Sec. 2-46. Law Advisory Committee.
A. Creation, Membership. A Law Advisory Committee is hereby
created and shall consist of five (5) members appointed
by the City Council to serve for a one (1) year term at
the pleasure of the City Council and without compensation
or reimbursement of expenses. Members must be registered
voters of the City of Tamarac and have been admitted to
the Bar of at least one (1) state in the United States
or the District of Columbia.
B. Powers and Duties. The committee shall assist and may
advise the City Attorney on legal matters relating to
the City of Tamarac. The City Council may establish
all additional duties and procedures of the committee
by Resolution."
SECTION 2: Resolution R-77-18 "A Resolution Creating an Advisory
Code Study Commission" is hereby repealed along with any other Ordinance con-
flicting with this Ordinance.

Sec. 2-29. Veterans affairs mmittee.
(a) Creation, Membership. A terans Affairs Committee is hereby created as a perma-
nent agency of the city and shall con 'st of five (5) or more members appointed by the city
council to serve for a one-year term at t pleasure of the city council. Members must have
served in a branch of the armed forces of t United States with an honorable discharge, or
must be a spouse of such veteran or a spouse o a veteran who died while in active duty.
(b) Powers, Duties. The comma+tee shall pro to and facilitate awareness among veter-
41 ans of their rights, benefits and any other special n ds; and promote programs designed to
encourage public awareness of the role of veterans in a history of the United States, and
promote patriotism. (Ord. No. 84-21, § 1, 4-25-84)

Sec. 2-30. Law advisory committee.
(a) Creation, Membership. A law advisory committee is hereby created and shall consist
of five (5) members appointed by the city council to serve for a one-year term at the pleasure of
the city council and without compensation or -eimbursement of expenses. Members must be
registered voters of the city and have been admitted to the bar of at least one (1) state in the
United States or the District of Columbia.
(b) Powers and Duties. The committee shall assist and may advise the city attorney on
legal matters relating to the city. The city council may establish all additional duties and
procedures of the committee by resolution. (Ord. No. 84-31, § 1, 5-23-84)
Sec. 2-31. Sister city advi ory committee.
(a) Creation, Qualifications. here is hereby created and established a sister city advisory
committee which shall consist oft o (2) commissioners of human relations appointed by the
city council for one-year terms who s ve at the pleasure of the city council. The commission-
ers shall be registered voters of the city nd shall not be elected officials of the city.
(b) Powers and Duties. The committee all be responsible for establishing and maintain-
ing one (1) or more sister city contacts with ci 'es outside the state, at the direction of the city
council. The committee shall promote comrnunl tion, understanding and programs between
the city and its sister cities. The commissioners s Il serve without pay and shall report in
writing quarterly to the city council as to the status o he sister city relationships the city has
with other cities.
(c) Expenses. Expenses up to one hundred dollars ($1 .00) may be made with the ap-
proval of the mayor or city manager. Expenses of one hundre ollars ($100.00) or more must
