Kravitz Introduced by: _ Temp. # 1185 CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA ORDINANCE NO. 0-85-_/_� AN ORDINANCE REPEALING SECTION 2-11.3 OF THE TAMARAC CITY CODE (ORDINANCE 0-84--8) ENTITLED "LEGISLATIVE AIDES"; PROVIDING FOR CODIFICA- TION; PROVIDING A REPEALER; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY OF INVALID PROVISIONS; AND PR YIDI.NG__AN-EF_ FE T ESL ATE.,,.._,,,_ -- BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TAMA- RAC, FLORIDA: SECTION 1: That Section 2--11.3 of the Tamarac City Code (Ordinance 0-84--8) entitled "Legislative Aides" which is attached hereto as Exhibit 1 is hereby repealed. SEC UDIL 2: Specific authority is hereby granted to codify this Ordinance. SECTION 3: All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict. SECTION 4: Should any section or provision of this Ordinance or any portion thereof, or any paragraph, sentence or word be declared by a Court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, such decision shall not affect the validity of the remainder hereof as whole or any part hereof, other than the part declared to be invalid. • This Ordinance shall take effect immedi- ately upon its final approval. Any city council member may appoint an aide to assist him in compiling background information on subjects that legitimately are, or could be, of concern to the city council. Communication with city staff shall be through the appointing council member. The following guidelines shall apply to legislative aides: (a) Aides shall be residents of the city. Supp. No. 23, 7-84 86.6 i EXHIBIT 1 n § 11 3 ADMINISTRATION § 2-11.3 (b) Aides shall serve without monetary remuneration from the city or any council y member. (c) Aides may be appointed by any council member for a term not to exceed the council member's term. Upon reelection of the council member, the aide may be reappointed. The aide serves at the pleasure of the appointing council member, and the appoint- ment may be withdrawn without cause by the appointing council member at any time. (f) Appointments of aides shall be made by written notice filed with the city clerk by the appointing council member. City council liaison positions. �The city council may designate any of its members to the position of liaison to a city mmittee, or a governmental entity outside the city. The city council may also designate a lia' on to a special project. Only the mayor or a council member may serve in a liaison posit' n and may hold more than one (1) liaison position. The designation of liaison shall b t the ple'sure of the council for a period of time not to extend past the next city electio . he designation of a liaison member may be withdrawn or changed at any time by th council without cause. Designations of liaisons shall be by resolution. No council liaison all have a vote on any c* committee nor serve as chairman or vice-chairman of any co ittee unless otherwise provided by law.
