AN ORDINANCE CREATING A CHARTER REVIEW
COMMITTEE; PROVIDING FOR APPOINTMENTS;
PROVIDING FOR DUTIES; PROVIDING FOR TERMINA-
TION; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; PROVIDING
8 FOR CODIFICATION; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE
DATE,

10 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Tamarac,
Florida believes it to be in the public interest to review
12 and evaluate the present City Charter; and
13 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Tamarac,
14 Florida is desirous of appointing an independent committee
15
to review and evaluate the present City Charter; and
16 WHEREAS, the City Council is further desirous of grant-
17 ing to the Charter Review Committee the_ authority to make
18 recommendations to the City Council for amendments or dele-
tions of any or all portions of the present City Charter of
the City of Tamarac, Florida.
21 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
22 THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
23 -SECTION 1: That there is hereby created a Charter
24 Review Committee of the City of Tamarac, Florida.
25 SECTION__2i That the Charter Review Committee shall
26 consist of seven (7) members. Each councilmember shall
27 appoint one (1) member who does not currently hold an elected
28 office in the City of Tamarac. In addition, the Mayor or his
29 designee from the Council and the chairman of the Charter
30 Board or his designee from the Charter Board shall serve as
members.
2 SECTION 3: The Charter Review Committee shall establish
33 rules and regulations by which it conducts its business,

2 shall elect from among its members a chairman, shall keep
3 regular minutes of its proceedings, shall hold public hear
4 ings, and shall make reports to the City Council during the
5 Council's bi-monthly meetings.
0 I,ECTIOII 4: The Charter Review Committee shall be
charged with the authority to review the present City Charter
8 and to recommend amendments or deletions of any section of
9 the City Charter.
10 BFCTION 5: The Charter Review Committee's authority
shall be limited to an advisory capacity and its recommenda-
tions cannot be placed on any ballot for consideration by the

13 electorate without first being approved by ordinance adopted
14 by the City Council pursuant to the Municipal Home Rule

Powers Act of the State of Florida. 16 -
5E0ION 6: The Charter Review Committee shall make a
17 final report to the City Council of the City of Tamarac,
18 Florida on or by March 24, 1987.
SECTION 7: Any requests for information of any nature
by the Charter Review Committee shall be made in written form

21 submitted to the City Manager of the City of Tamarac.
22 SECTION 8: That the Charter Review Committee shall
23 terminate upon the submission of the final report to the City
24 Council as provided for herein.
25 E T Should any section or provision of this
26 ordinance or any portion hereof or any paragraph, sentence or
27 word be declared by a Court of competent jurisdiction to be
28 invalid, such decision shall not affect the validity of the
29 remainder hereof as a whole or any part hereof other than the
30 part declared to be invalid.
