HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity of Tamarac Ordinance O-1986-060Introduced by: % %� Temp. #1291 Rev. 10/22/86 1 CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA 2 ORDINANCE NO. 0-86- �P 3 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 7 OF THE CODE OF t ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC PERTAINING TO BUILDINGS; REQUIRING THAT ALL BUILDINGS WITHIN THE CITY OF TAMARAC DISPLAY NUMBERS ASSIGNED BY THE UNITED STATES POSTAL SERVICE; PROVIDING THAT FINAL SITE PLANS MUST CONTAIN BUILDING NUMBERS; PROVIDING THAT ALL EXISTING BUILDINGS MUST DISPLAY NUMBERS ASSIGNED BY THE UNITED STATES POSTAL SERVICE WITHIN ONE (1) YEAR OF THE EFFECTIVE DATE OF THIS g ORDINANCE; PROVIDING FOR MINIMUM STANDARDS; PRO- VIDING FOR REPEALER; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; 9 PROVIDING FOR CODIFICATION; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE A 10 11 WHEREAS, a public hearing has been held pursuant to 12 Chapter 166, Florida Statutes and; 13 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Tamarac deter- 14 mines that it is in the public interest to adopt the 15 following Ordinance which requires that all buildings within j the City of Tamarac display numbers assigned by the United States Postal Service. w NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF 19 THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA: 20 SE_CTI0N1: That Section 7-7 (C) of the Code of 21 Ordinances of the City of Tamarac is hereby amended by adding 22 subsection (a)(10), which is to read as follows: 23 (a)(10) All final site plans must contain building 24 numbers assigned by the United States Postal Service. If the 25 site plan is for single family residences, each residence .6 shall contain the assigned number. If multi -family, then 27 each unit shall have a number or letter assigned. If 28 commercial, each planned store shall have a number assigned. A notation shall be made on the site plan that these numbers will be placed on the buildings before a certificate of occupancy can be issued. 32 OECTION 2,-That Chapter 7 of the Code of Ordinances of 33 the City of Tamarac is hereby amended by creating Section 7- 34 20 which is to read as follows: 35 -1- Temp. Ord. #1291 Rev. 10/22/86 32 33 34 35 ARTICLE IV. BUILDING IDENTIFICATION Section 7-20: Requirements All existing buildings, regardless of use, must display a number assigned by the United States Postal Service within one (1) year of the adoption of this Ordinance. The numbers must be visible from the street or alley, in order that emergency vehicles can readily identify the building number, and shall meet the following requirements when applicable: (a) If a commercial building has a rear entrance the number assigned by the United States Postal Service must additionally be displayed near the rear entrance. (b) All ground signs identifying a project, regardless of use, shall display the beginning numbers assigned by the United States Postal Service with each number being at least six (6) inches in height. All numbers on buildings shall be four (4) inches in height. (c) The numbers placed on residential units shall be at least four (4) inches in height. (d) The display of a number assigned by the United States Postal Service shall be a condition to receiving a certificate of occupancy. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict. If any provision of this Ordinance or the application thereof to any person or circumstance is held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect other provisions or applications of this Ordinance that can be given effect without the invalid provision or application, and to this end the provisions of this Ordinance are declared to be sever- able. SECTION 5: Specific authority is hereby granted to codify this Ordinance. IWM Temp.
