CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
ORDINANCE NO. 0-93- IS
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
TAMARAC, FLORIDA, AMENDING CHAPTER 13
"MISCELLANEOUS OFFENSES", BY ADDING SECTION 13-12,
"ROLLER-BLADING, ROLLER SKATING, SKATEBOARDING
AND BICYCLING ON OVERPASSES LOCATED IN THE CITY IS
PROHIBITED"; PROVIDING FOR POSTING OF REGULATORY
SIGNS; PROVIDING FOR FINES; PROVIDING FOR
CODIFICATION; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING
FOR SEVERABILITY AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Tamarac has received a
request from Tamarac Elementary to ban the use of roller blades on the
overpass serving Tamarac Elementary; and
WHEREAS, the Florida Department of Transportation will post signs
regulating roller blading, roller skating, skateboarding and bicycles on the
overpass once the City of Tamarac City Council enacts appropriate
legislation regulating roller blading; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Tamarac finds that roller
blading, roller skating, skateboarding and bicycling on the overpass is a
threat to the health, safety, and welfare of the students, teachers, residents,
and school crossing guards.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:

tion 2: Specific authority is hereby granted to codify this Ordinance.
Section 3: All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
Section 4; If any provision of this Ordinance or the application thereof to
any person or circumstance is held invalid, such invalidity
shall not affect other provisions or applications of this
Ordinance that can be given affect without the invalid
provisions or application, and to this end the provisions of this
Ordinance are declared to be severable.
Section This Ordinance shall become effective immediately upon its
passage and adoption.
