CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
ORDINANCE NO. 0-94 1
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
TAMARAC, FLORIDA, AMENDING CHAPTER 2 OF THE
TAMARAC CITY CODE, ENTITLED "ADMINISTRATION",
ARTICLE 3, ENTITLED "BOARDS, COMMITTEES,
COMMISSIONS", DIVISION 4, ENTITLED "INSURANCE
ADVISORY BOARD", SECTION 2-136, ENTITLED
"CREATION"; PROVIDING FOR TWO (2) ALTERNATES;
PROVIDING FOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF
ALTERNATES; AMENDING SECTION 2-137, ENTITLED
"MEMBERSHIP; COMPENSATION; CHAIRMEN";
PROVIDING FOR ALTERNATE MEMBERS; AMENDING
SECTION 2-140, ENTITLED "VACANCIES"; PROVIDING
FOR ALTERNATE MEMBERS; PROVIDING FOR
CODIFICATION; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS;
PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR
AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the
City Council
of the City of
Tamarac,
Florida, deems it
to be in the public
interest to
provide for
alternate
members to the
Insurance Advisory Board.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That the foregoing whereas clause is hereby
ratified and confirmed as being true and correct and is hereby made a
specific part of this
Ordinance upon
adoption
hereof.
SECTION 2:
The Tamarac
Code of
Ordinances is hereby amended
by revising Section 2-136, Creation, to read as follows:
Sec. 2-136. Creation.
There is created and established an insurance advisory board
which shall consist of five (5) regular members and two (2)
gItgrngles appointed by the city council. If a regular member
is unable to -attend a, .,m-ggling of the board, an alternate
member —may, with the a rpLMI of the, _chairman. take the Ip ace
of the negglar member at that. meeting. For the duration of
that h alternate membgr shall have all the rights
and dutiesr d a regular m m er.

E TI The Tamarac Code of Ordinances is hereby amended
by revising Section 2-137, Membership; compensation; chairmen; to read
as follows:
Sec. 2-137. Membership; compensation; chairmen.
The regular and alternate members of the insurance advisory
board shall be appointed by the city council on an annual basis
and serve at the pleasure of the city council without
compensation. The chairman of the board shall be appointed by
the city council. No regular or alternate member shall be
directly or actively engaged as an employee, officer, board
member, consultant or representative of any organization
doing business with the city in the field of insurance.
SECTION 4: The Tamarac Code of Ordinances is hereby amended
by revising Section 2-140, Vacancies, to read as follows:
Sec. 2-140. Vacancies.
(a) Removal of members. A-R Insurance advisory board
regular or alternate members. am appointed, by the city council
at the pleasure of the city council and shall be removed at any
time by majority vote of the city council.
(b) Resignation of members. A resignation by a regular or
alternge- board member made either orally or in writing will
be deemed accepted by the city council when the regular or
alternate board member announces his resignation to the
board, city manager or city council. The city council need not
take any formal action to accept the resignation. Failure by -a
reaular board member to attend three (3) consecutive meetings
without being excused by the chairman shall be deemed a
resignation.
SECTION 5: Specific authority is hereby granted to codify this
Ordinance.
SECTION 6: All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 7: If any provision of this Ordinance or the application
thereof 'to any person or circumstance is held invalid, such invalidity shall
not affect other provisions or applications of this Ordinance that can be
given affect without the invalid provision or application, and to this end
the provisions of this Ordinance are declared to be severable.
