Ord. # 1729 Page 1 June 13, 1995 Rev. 1 - 6/20/95 Rev. 2 - 1 /29/96 Rev. 3 - 2/14/96 CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA ORDINANCE NO, 0-96--�— AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, AMENDING ARTICLE IV, SECTION 4.04, OF THE CITY CHARTER, ENTITLED "COMPENSATION AND EXPENSES OF MAYOR AND COUNCIL" INCREASING MAYOR EXPENSE ALLOWANCE FROM $3,000.00 TO $4,500.00 AND INCREASING COMMISSIONER EXPENSE ALLOWANCE FROM $2,000.00 TO $3,500.00; PROVIDING THAT IF THE AMENDMENT IS APPROVED BY A MAJORITY OF THE VOTERS AT THE SEPTEMBER 3, 1996 ELECTION, THEN SUCH AMENDMENT SHALL BECOME A PART OF THE CITY CHARTER UPON CERTIFICATION AND ACCEPTANCE OF THE ELECTION RESULTS; PROVIDING FOR CODIFICATION; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac has deemed it to be in the best interest of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac that Article IV, §4.04 of the Tamarac Charter, be amended; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Chapter 166, Florida Statutes, a public hearing has been held on this matter. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA: 1 Temp. Ord. # 1729 Page 2 June 13, 1995 Rev. 1 - 6/20/95 Rev. 2 - 1 /29/96 Rev. 3 - 2/14/96 TI 1: The following referendum question amending the City Charter shall be presented to the electorate of the City of Tamarac at the September 3, 1996 election and if the following referendum question is approved by a majority of the electorate at said election, the amendment proposed shall become a part of the City Charter upon Certification and acceptance of the election results: PROPOSED AMENDMENT MAYOR AND COMMISSIONER EXPENSE ALLOWANCES INCREASED SECTION 4.04 OF TAMARAC CHARTER AMENDED INCREASING MAYOR'S EXPENSE ALLOWANCE FROM AMOUNT PREVIOUSLY SET IN 1980 OF $3,000.00 TO $4,500.00 PER YEAR, AND INCREASING COMMISSIONER EXPENSE ALLOWANCE FROM THE AMOUNT PREVIOUSLY SET IN 1980 OF $2,000.00 TO $3,500.00 PER YEAR, REIMBURSEMENT CONTINUES TO BE SUBJECT TO DELIVERY OF AN ITEMIZED VOUCHER TO CITY MANAGER FOR REIMBURSEMENT OF ACTUAL AND NECESSARY EXPENSES ALLOWABLE BY LAW INCURRED IN PERFORMANCE OF DUTIES AS MAYOR OR COMMISSIONER. YES NO. If the proposed amendment is approved, Article IV, Section 4.04 entitled "Compensation and expenses of mayor and council" will read as indicated below: Sec. 4.04. Compensation and expenses of mayor and council. Temp. Ord. # 1729 Page 3 June 13, 1995 Rev. 1 - 6/20/95 Rev. 2 - 1 /29/96 Rev. 3 - 2/14/96 The salary of the mayor shall be four hundred dollars ($400.00) per month, and the salary of the councilmembers shall be three hundred dollars ($300.00) per month. The mayor shall be entitled to receive his actual and necessary expenses allowable by law, not to exceed four thousand five hundrgd dollars ($4.500,00) per year incurred in the performance of his duties as mayor upon delivery of an itemized voucher to the city manager. Each councilmember (other than mayor) shall be entitled to receive his actual and necessary expenses allowable by law, not to exceed {$2,999.09� threg Ihousandfive hundred r 5 per year incurred in the performance of his duties as councilmember upon delivery of an itemized voucher to the city manager. SECTION 2: Codification: It is the intention of the City Commission and it is hereby ordained that the provisions of this Ordinance shall become and be made a part of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Tamarac, Florida, and that the Sections of this Ordinance may be renumbered or relettered and the word "Ordinance" may be changed to "Section", "Article" or such other word or phrase in order to accomplish such intention. 9E, QTION 3: Qonflicts: All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
