ORDINANCE NO. 0-97--L--
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA,
AMENDING CHAPTER 7 " FIRE PREVENTION
AND PROTECTION" ARTICLE II
ADMINISTRATION MODIFYING SECTION 7-29,
"FIRE SERVICE FEES", BY PROVIDING A
DEFINITION OF THE MINIMUM LEVEL OF
TRANSPORTATION SERVICE PROVIDED BY
THE CITY; PROVIDING FOR CODIFICATION;
PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING
FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Tamarac is providing emergency medical services including
transport beginning October 1,1996; and
WHEREAS, the State of Florida requires a minimum of one paramedic and one
emergency medical technician on each advanced life support rescue vehicle; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission has decided to maintain staffing of at least one
paramedic and one emergency medical technician on each rescue vehicle; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac has deemed it to be in the
best interest of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac that the minimum level of
of emergency medical transport service shall be advanced life support.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:

SECTION 1: That the foregoing whereas clauses are hereby ratified and
confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Ordinance
upon adoption hereof.
SECTION _2: Section 7-29 is amended as follows
Section 7-29 Fire Service Fees,
The Fire Department is authorized to require payment for medical treatment and transport.
The rates and charges applicable for medical treatment and transport shall be established
by resolution of the City Commission. All CITY tr witb gt least
Qne paramedic and one emergency medical technician and are equipped_to provide
Advanced Life Support (ALS) level service as defined by Florida Statutg g11d Urgwar ..
County Code. ALS shall be the minimum level of transport service proVtde- - by the CITY.
The recipients of the services are responsible for payment of fees. Fee schedules shall
be kept on file in the City Clerk's office.
SECTION 3: It is the intention of the City Commission and it is hereby
ordained that the provisions of this Section shall become and be made a part of the Code
of Ordinances of the City of Tamarac, Florida, and that the Sections of this Ordinance may
be renumbered, relettered and the word "Ordinance" may be changed to "Section," "Article"
or such other word or phrase in order to accomplish such intention.
SECTION 4: All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances, and all Resolutions and

parts of Resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 5: If any provision of this Ordinance or the application thereof to
any person or circumstance is held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect other provisions
or applications of this Ordinance that can be given affect without the invalid provision or
application, and to this end the provisions of this Ordinance are declared to be severable.
SECTION 6: This Ordinance shall become effective immediately upon its
passage and adoption.
