Ord. #1793 1 6/10/97 Rev. #1 - 6/11/97 CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA ORDINANCE NO. 0-97- 29 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, AMENDING CHAPTER 2 OF THE TAMARAC CITY CODE, ENTITLED "ADMINISTRATION", ARTICLE III, "BOARDS, COMMITTEES, COMMISSIONS" BY ADDING SECTION 2-56, "RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS", SETTING FORTH RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS FOR BOARDS, COMMITTEES AND COMMISSIONS OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC; PROVIDING FOR CODIFICATION; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac, Florida appoints numerous citizens to serve on its varied boards, committees and commissions; and WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac deems it to be in the public interest to require that citizens appointed to the boards, committees and commissions of Tamarac be residents of the City of Tamarac. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA: SECTION 1: That the foregoing whereas clauses are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Ordinance upon adoption hereof. SECTION 2: That Chapter 2 of the Tamarac City Code, entitled CODING: Words in struck through type are deletions from existing law; Words in underscored type are additions. 1 1 1 Temp. Ord. #1793 2 6/10/97 Rev. #1 - 6/11/97 "Administration", Article III, 'Boards, committees, commissions" is hereby amended as follows by adding Section 2-56, "Residency Requirements". Sec. 2-56. Residency requirements. Each member of a board committee or commission of the City of Tamarac shall be a resident of the City of Tamarac. Failurp to be a resident of the City shall result in forfeiture of the position on the board, committee or commission. This section does not apply to staff who have been appointed to a board committee or commission as Dart of their work responsibilities. The city commission may waive the requirements of this section. SECTION I It is the intention of the City Commission and it is hereby ordained that the provisions of this Ordinance shall become and be made a part of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Tamarac, Florida, and that the Sections of this Ordinance may be renumbered or relettered and the word "Ordinance" may be changed to "Section", "Article" or such other word or phrase in order to accomplish such intention. SECTION 4: All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances, and Resolutions or parts of Resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict. SECTION 5. If any provision of this Ordinance or the application thereof to any person or circumstance is held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect other provisions or applications of this Ordinance that can be given affect without the invalid provision or application, and to this end the provisions of this Ordinance are declared to be severable.
