CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA
ORDINANCE NO. 0-99-_
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, CHANGING THE NAME OF THE
PLANNING COMMISSION TO THE PLANNING BOARD, AND
PROVIDING THAT ALL REFERENCES IN THE TAMARAC
CODE REFERRING TO THE PLANNING COMMISSION ARE
CHANGED TO PLANNING BOARD; PROVIDING FOR
CONFLICTS; PROVIDING. FOR SEVERABILITY; AND
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, pursuant to the City Commission's expression of interest at the
workshop meeting held on January 11, 1999, the Planning Commission should be
renamed and referred to as the Planning Board; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission was referred to as the City Council at the time the
Planning Commission was created, and the renaming of the Planning Commission to the
Planning Board will serve to avoid confusion; and
WHEREAS, Section 4.08 of the City Charter provides authority for the City
Commission to create boards by ordinance, and does not provide for the creation of
commissions; and
WHEREAS, Chapter 24, Article II, Division 3, Sections 24-61 through 24-69 of the
Tamarac Code, refers to the Planning Commission, along with approximately fifty-six Code
sections that reference the Planning Commission;
WHEREAS, all references in the Tamarac Code to the Planning Commission are

to be changed to Planning Board; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac has deemed it to be in the
best interest of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac that the Planning
Commission is to be renamed and referred to as the Planning Board, and that all
references in the Tamarac Code to Planning Commission be changed to Planning Board.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That the foregoing whereas clauses are hereby ratified and
confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Ordinance
upon adoption hereof.
SECTION 2: All provisions in the Tamarac Code of Ordinances referring to
the Planning Commission are amended to effectuate the renaming to the Planning Board,
and all references in the Tamarac Code of Ordinances to Planning Commission are
changed to Planning Board.
SECTION 3: All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances, and Resolutions or parts
of Resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 4: If any provision of this Ordinance or the application thereof to
any person or circumstance is held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect other provisions
or applications of this Ordinance that can be given affect without the invalid provision or
application, and to this end the provisions of this Ordinance are declared to be severable.

SECTION 5: This Ordinance shall become effective immediately upon its
passage and adoption.
