AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, AMENDING CHAPTER 2 ADMINISTRATION, ARTICLE IV. DEPARTMENTS, DIVISION 1. GENERALLY, OF THE TAMARAC CITY CODE, AMENDING SECTION 2-235 ESTABLISHMENT OF CERTAIN DEPARTMENTS AND OFFICES, CHANGING DEPARTMENT OF MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SERVICES TO DEPARTMENT OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY, PROVIDING FOR CODIFICATION; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the responsibilities and operational functions of the Management Information Services Department have expanded to include management of all information technology and telecommunications; and WHEREAS, the title of Department of Information Technology is being widely used in more modern organizations; and WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac has deemed it to be in the best interest of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac that Chapter 2 Administration, Article IV. Departments, Division 1. Generally, Section 2-235 Establishment of Certain Departments and Offices of the Tamarac City Code be revised to reflect the name change of the Management Information Services Department. Ord. #1904 2 July 6, 2000 SECTION 1: That the foregoing whereas clauses are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Ordinance upon adoption hereof. SECTION 2: Chapter 2 Administration, Article IV. Departments, Division 1. Generally, of the Tamarac City Code is amended as follows: Sec. 2-235. Establishment of certain departments and offices. The following departments and offices of the city are hereby established: building, finance, information technology maRage ent i1mierimlath„� �a.,,;,,o�I parks and recreation, personnel, public works, social services, utilities. w (3) The department of information technolo is responsible for ensuring the effective use of information technology by the city government including but not limited to the maintenance of the city's computer systems, the training of city staff and all other duties and functions normally associated with a municipality's information systems department. SECTION 3: It is the intention of the City Commission and it is hereby ordained that the provisions of this Ordinance shall become and be made a part of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Tamarac, Florida, and that the Sections of this Ordinance may be renumbered or relettered and the word "Ordinance" may be changed to "Section", "Article" or such other word or phrase in order to accomplish such intention. SECTION 4: All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances, and Resolutions or parts of Resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict. Ord. #1904 3 july 3, -2000 July 6, 2000 SECTION 5: If any provision of this Ordinance or the application thereof to any person or circumstance is held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect other provisions or applications of this Ordinance that can be given affect without the invalid provision or application, and to this end the provisions of this Ordinance are declared to be severable. SECTION 6: passage and adoption.
