CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA, AMENDING CHAPTER 2,
ADMINISTRATION; ARTICLE IV, SECTION 2-235
ESTABLISHMENT OF CERTAIN DEPARTMENTS AND
OFFICES, OF THE TAMARAC CODE, CHANGING THE
BUILDING DEPARTMENT NAME; PROVIDING FOR
CODIFICATION; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING
FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE
WHEREAS, in July 2003, the City Administration restructured the Building
Department; and
WHEREAS, the Building Department now includes the Code Enforcement Division;
and
WHEREAS, the Department Director is recommending the amendment of Chapter
2, Administration, Section 2-235, Establishment of Certain Departments and Offices in the
City Code of Ordinances; and
WHEREAS, these changes will assist in accurately identifying the functional areas
of the Department's responsibility, and insure efficiency in communicating with the
community; and

WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac deems it to be in the best
interest of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac that the City of Tamarac Code
of Ordinances Chapter 2, Administration, Section 2-235, Establishment of Certain
Departments and Offices be amended.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA THAT:
SECTION 1: That the foregoing WHEREAS clauses are hereby ratified and
confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Ordinance
upon adoption hereof.
SECTION 2: That the City of Tamarac Code of Ordinances Chapter 2,
Administration, Section 2-235, Establishment of Certain Departments and Offices, is
hereby amended to read as follows:
Sec. 2-235. Establishment of Certain Departments and Offices.
The following departments and offices of the city are hereby established: building
and code compliance, finance, information technology, parks and recreation,
personnel, public works, social services, utilities.

(1) The building and code compliance department is responsible for but not
limited to the implementation of adopted policies, plan reviews, permitting,
inspections and enforcement to verify compliance with the South Florida Building
Code and city codes. It will also provide all other duties and functions normally
associated with a municipality's building and code compliance department.
SECTION 3: It is the intention of the City Commission and it is hereby ordained
that the provisions of this ordinance shall be made a part of the Code of Ordinances of
the City of Tamarac, Florida, and that Sections of this Ordinance may be renumbered or
relettered and the word "Ordinance" may be changed to "Section", "Article" or such
other word or phrase in order to accomplish such intention.
SECTION 4: All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances, and Resolutions or parts of
Resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 5: If any provision of this Ordinance or the application thereof to any
person or circumstance is held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect other provisions or
applications of this Ordinance that can be given affect without the invalid provision or
application, and to this end of the provisions of this Ordinance are declared to be
severable.

SECTION 6: This Ordinance shall become effective immediately upon its passage
and adoption.
