ORDINANCE NO. 02011 - / 0
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
TAMARAC, FLORIDA, AMENDING CHAPTER 2 OF THE CITY OF
TAMARAC CODE OF ORDINANCES, ENTITLED
"ADMINISTRATION", ARTICLE III "BOARDS, COMMITTEES,
COMMISSIONS", BY DELETING IN ITS ENTIRETY DIVISION 7
ENTITLED, "SOCIAL SERVICES BOARD", SECTIONS 2-201
THROUGH 2-206; PROVIDING FOR SUNSETTING THE SOCIAL
SERVICES BOARD; PROVIDING FOR CODIFICATION;
PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR
SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, the Social Services Board was established in 1975 for the
purpose of making all studies relating to the health, welfare and safety of
residents with particular emphasis on the needs of residents for assistance and
addressing special problems of the aging;
WHEREAS, the Social Services Board has performed good and valuable
services to the residents of the City of Tamarac; and
WHEREAS, over the past few years the Social Services Board has
struggled to solicit prospective applicants or to garner a quorum; and
WHEREAS, the City's Director of Parks and Recreation recommends that
the tasks and responsibilities formerly handled by the Social Services Board be

jointly handled by the City's Parks and Recreation staff and the Parks and
Recreation Board; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac expresses its
appreciation to the members of the Social Services Board and commends said
members for their efforts on behalf of the City of Tamarac; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Tamarac has deemed it to
be in the best interest of the citizens and residents of the City of Tamarac that
Division 7 of the Tamarac City Code, Article III, Division 7, be deleted in its
entirety providing for the sun -setting of the Social Services Board.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF TAMARAC, FLORIDA THAT:
SECTION 1: The foregoing whereas clauses are hereby ratified and
confirmed as being true and correct, and are hereby made a specific part of this
Ordinance upon adoption thereof. All exhibits attached hereto are hereby
incorporated by reference and made a specific part of the ordinance.
SECTION 2: Chapter 2 of the City of Tamarac Code of Ordinances
entitled "Administration", Article III "Boards, Committees, Commissions:, Division

7; "Social Services Board", Sections 2-201 through 2-206, is hereby amended by
deleting it in its entirety.
SECTION 3: The Social Services Board is hereby sunsetted.
SECTION 4: It is the intention of the City Commission and it is hereby
ordained that the provisions of this Ordinance shall become and be made a part
of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Tamarac, Florida, and that Sections of
this Ordinance may be re -numbered or re -lettered and the word "Ordinance" may
be changed to "Section", "Article" or such other word or phrase in order to
accomplish such intention.
SECTION 5: All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances, and all
Resolutions or parts of Resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to
the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 6: If any provision of this Ordinance or the application
thereof to any person or circumstance is held invalid, such invalidity shall not
affect other provisions or applications of this Ordinance that can be given affect
without the invalid provision or application, and to this end the provisions of this
Ordinance are declared to be severable.

SECTION 7: This Ordinance shall become effective immediately upon
its passage and adoption.
