City Attorney Kraft read Temporary Resolution 9263, Revision #1 by title. Commissioner Portner seconded by Vice Mayor Roberts moved approval. Commissioner Portner said the applicants were exceedingly well qualified and it was a difficult decision. He hoped the applicants who were not chosen would run for office in 2002. Commissioner Sultanof said each applicant had something different to add, and it was a good mix. Mayor Schreiber said he has been through this twice before, and this was the most democratic process to date. The candidates were superior, and more people are showing an interest in serving government. Mayor Schreiber said for the candidates not chosen, the position would be open for election in one year. Commissioner Portner seconded by Vice Mayor Roberts moved approval of Temporary Resolution 9263, as amended, appointing Gertrude R.
