SPECIAL CITY COMMISSION MEETING
MONDAY, MARCH 26,2001
CALL TO ORDER. Mayor Schreiber called the Special meeting of the City Commission
to order at 12:20 p.m. on Monday, March 26, 2001 in Conference Room #105, Tamarac
City Hall, 7525 NW 88 th Avenue, Tamarac.
PRESENT: Mayor Joe Schreiber, Vice Mayor Karen L. Roberts, Commissioner -Edward
C. Portner, Commissioner Gertrude Mishkin, and Commissioner Marc L. Sultanof.
ALSO PRESENT: City Manager Jeffrey L. Miller, City Attorney Mitchell S. Kraft and City
Clerk Marion Swenson.
1 . ELECTION OF VICE -MAYOR- (TR9308) Electing - to serve as
vice -mayor for a one (1) year term beginning March 26, 2001 with no succession. City
Attorney Kraft read Temporary Resolution 9308, revision #1, by title. Commissioner
Portner seconded by Vice Mayor Roberts moved approval of Temporary Resolution
9308. Vice Mayor Roberts said she enjoyed serving as vice -mayor during the past year
and expressed her appreciation to the Mayor and Commission. Vice Mayor Roberts
seconded by Commissioner Mishkin moved to nominate Commissioner Sultanof to
serve as vice -mayor for a one (1) year term beginning March 26, 2001. Commissioner
Portner seconded by Vice Mayor Roberts moved to close nominations. Vice Mayor
Roberts seconded by Commissioner Portner moved approval of Temporary Resolution
9308, as amended, electing Commissioner Sultanof to serve as vice -mayor for a one
(1) year term beginning March 26, 2001 with no succession. On roll call, Vice Mayor
Roberts voted "yes", Commissioner Portner "yes", Commissioner Mishkin "yes"
Commissioner Sultanof "yes", and Mayor Schreiber "yes". Motion carried. Vice Mayor
Sultanof commended Commissioner Roberts for a job well done as vice -mayor during
the past year.
RESOLUTION NO. R2001-54
2. APPOINTING ONE -11), -RESIDENT TRUSTEE TO THE POLICE PENSION
BOARD: (TR9309) Appointing one (1) resident trustee to the Police Pension Board to
fill a vacancy. City Attorney Kraft read Temporary Resolution 9309 by title.
Commissioner Portner seconded by Vice Mayor Sultanof moved approval of Temporary
Resolution 9309. Commissioner Roberts seconded by Commissioner Mishkin moved
approval of Temporary Resolution 9309, as amended, appointing Abe Stok to serve as
a resident trustee to the Police Pension Board for a two-year term expiring March 26,
2003, or until such time as reappointments are made. On roll call, Commissioner
Roberts voted "yes", Commissioner Mishkin "yes", Commissioner Portner "yes", Vice
Mayor Sultanof "yes", and Mayor Schreiber "yes". Motion carried.

There being no further business to come before the City Commission, Mayor Schreiber
adjourned the Special Meeting of the City Commission at 12:25 p.m.
