CITY COMMISSION BUDGET WORKSHOP
TUESDAY, JULY 25, 1995
CALL TO ORDER: Mayor Abramowitz called the Budget Workshop to Order on
Tuesday, July 25, 1995, at 9:00 a.m. in Conference Room #1, 7525 Northwest 88th
Avenue, Tamarac, Florida.

The following Department's budget were discussed:
Tape 1
CITY CLERK - Pages 233 - 241
Ms. Evans referred to duplicating microfilm for storage in Tallahassee, advertising fees,
charge -backs, equipment used with the microfilm machine and a change from
temporary to permanent for an employee. Discussion followed on replacement of
dictation/transcription equipment and the Xerox copying machine.
PUBLIC WORKS - Pages 279 - 335
Mr. Verma referred to drainage improvements at Tract 27, stormwater improvements,
air-conditioning improvements and renovations at City Hall, Land Section 7, restoration
of the Municipal Parking Lot and elimination of six position in the Grounds Maintenance
Division. He requested portable radios and a computer and discussion followed on the
budget format and health insurance.

There was further discussion pertaining to salaries, ad valorem taxes, bids for

Northwest 67Street, office furniture and equipment and large user rates with regard to
telephones.
Discussion continued on privatization of janitorial duties, a vehicle for the Building
Foreman, 3/4 Ton truck, car pools, grounds maintenance, beautification, street sweeper
and Grounds Maintenance Supervisor.

There was discussion on employee morale, privatization, street and road evaluation,
generators for trailer arrow lights, a computer and upgrading lumens on street lights.
Mr. Verma commented on Stormwater Management and introduced Stormwater
Engineer, Glenn Engelhardt. Discussion followed on the National Pollutant Discharge
Elimination System (NPDES) Permit and objections by Woodlands' residents for
stormwater fees of $2.00.

There was further discussion concerning car pooling, fleet maintenance, fleet inventory,
Municipal Parking Lot, street paving and a five-year vehicle replacement program.
Tape 5
City Manager Noe discussed a commitment from Broward County, Land Section 7
being funded through impact fees and discussion followed pertaining to median
beautification on Brookwood Boulevard, revenue bonds and water and wastewater lines
in Tamarac East.
Mayor Abramowitz ADJOURNED the BUDGET WORKSHOP at 12:20 P.M.
