HomeMy WebLinkAbout1995-06-14 - City Commission Regular Meeting MinutesCITY OF TAMARAC CITY COMMISSION REGULAR MEETING WEDNESDAY, JUNE 14, 1995 CALL TO ORDER: Mayor Abramowitz called the Meeting to order on Wednesday, June 14, 1995, at 7:00 P.M. in City Commission Chambers, 7525 Northwest 88th Avenue, Tamarac, Florida. Kraft, City Attorney Patricia Marcurio, CMC, Acting City Clerk Phyllis Polikoff, Secretary PLEDrZE OF ALLEGIANCE MOMENT OF MEDITATION: Mayor Abramowitz called for the Pledge of Allegiance and a Moment of Meditation. Tape 1 INTRODUCTION 1.a. PRESENTATION by Mayor Abramowitz of a proclamation designating the month of June, 1995, as HURRICANE AWARENESS MONTH. Mayor Abramowitz presented the proclamation to Fire Chief, Jim Budzinski. 1.b. PRESENTATION by Mayor Abramowitz of a proclamation designating the month of October, 1995 as ITALIAN HERITAGE AND CULTURE MONTH. Mayor Abramowitz presented the proclamation to Angelo Mela and Olga Lawler, representatives of the Italian American Club of Tamarac. PUBLIC PARTICIPATION 2. PUBLIC PARTICIPATION -Any member of the public may speak to any issue which is not agendized for public hearing at this meeting. Speakers will be City Commission Regular Meeting 6/14/95/PP Page 2 limited to three minutes during this item and at public hearings. There will be a thirty (30) minute aggregate time limit for this item, and speakers are encouraged to sign up in advance with the City Clerk prior to their participation. Burton Scholl, President of the Kings Point Civic Association, referenced the Tamarac Library and discussed concerns pertaining to blasting on Land Section 7. 3. Items listed under Consent Agenda, Item 3, are viewed to be routine and the recommendation will be enacted by ONE MOTION in the form listed below. If discussion is desired, then the item(s) will be removed from the Consent Agenda and will be considered separately. a. MOTION TO APPROVE the minutes of the 5/24/95 regular City Commission meeting. Reso.#7075 accepting a Bill of Sale for the water distribution and sanitary sewer collection system improvements at WELDON PHASES I AND IA (located at the northeast corner of NW 96 Avenue and NW 77 Street). Rgoo. #7080 authorizing the appropriate City officials to execute a Water and Sewer Developer's Agreement with Lennar Homes, Inc., for WELDON PHASE II. (located north of NW 77 Street and east of NW 96 Avenue). APPROVED-RESOLUTION-R-96-123-PASSED d. MOTION TO ADQPT Temp. R authorizing the appropriate City officials to execute a water and sewer utility easement with INTERTRES, N.V., a Netherlands Antilles Corporation, for the installation, maintenance and operation of water and sewer utilities, Wells 18 & 19, in Land Section 9, north of the Curtis Field Plat on the southwest corner of University Drive and NW 61 Street. MOTION TO ADOPT Temp. . #7093 approving the purchase of two (2) Chevrolet Cavaliers from Maroone Chevrolet utilizing State of Florida City Commission Regular Meeting 6/14/95/PP Page 3 1995 Vehicle Bid #070-200-140 at a cost of $10,988 each with funding from Account #503-703-591-640 entitled Fleet Services, Vehicles. APPROVED-RESOLUTION-R-95-125-PASSED f. MOTION TO ADOPT Temp. Reso. #7074 repealing Resolution R-95-13 for tank replacement design and authorizing Lutz Petroleum Installation, Inc., to perform the tank removal and replacement at TRACT 27 by installing a 2,000 gallon convault above ground diesel storage tank and remove and discard the abandoned 1,000 gallon above ground steel storage tank and generator muffler at the WATER TREATMENT PLANT SITE by utilizing the Palm Beach County School Board bid in the total amount of $40,550. with funding from Account #432-888-433-671 entitled Tract 27 Fuel Containment Structure. APPROVED-RESOLUTION-R-95-126-PASSED g. MOTION TO ADOPT Temp. Reso. #7094 approving the purchase of six (6) new Scott 4.5 self-contained breathing apparatus for the Fire Department from Safety Equipment Company, a sole source, at a total cost of $18,220.20, with funding from Account #001-223-522-647 entitled Special Equipment. APPROVED-RESOLUTION-R-95-127-PASSED h. M TI N TO ADOPT Temp. R . #7 97 authorizing the appropriate City officials to apply for matching grant funds and to enter into an Urban Forestry Grant Memorandum of Agreement with the State of Florida, Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Division of Forestry, for in-house training and green house improvements and equipment for a total project cost of $40,000, $20,000 in grant funds and $20,000 in City funds, providing the City receives grant funding approval.
