The Council will take action on the following items: 1. MOTION TO ADOPT Temn_ Reso_ #6236 declaring the results of the voting for amendments to Sections 7.04, 7.05, 7.06, 7.13 and Article VII of the Charter. RESOLUTION R-92-36-PASSED APPROVED 2. MOTION TO ADOPT Temp_ Reso_ #6211 declaring, the results of the voting for Charter Board members in Districts 2 and 4. RESOLUTION R-92-37-PASSED APPROVED declaring the newly elected Charter Board members to be: Oscar Brawer District 2 Sam Garber District 4 3. MOTION TO ADOPT Temp.- Reso. #6234 declaring the results of the voting for Mayor and City Council Districts 2, 3, and 4. FINAL ACTION: RESOLUTION R-92-38-PASSED APPROVED declaring the newly elected City Council members to be: Henry C. Schumann District 2 Joseph Schreiber District 3 Norman Abramowitz District 4 H. Larry Bender Mayor 4. PRESENTATION OF CEBXIFIrATES OF ELECTION, by the City Clerk. FINAL —ACTION: Presentations were made by Carol A. FINAL ACTION: RESOLUTION R-92-39-PASSED APPROVED PUBLIC PARTICIPATION 8. prrRLTC PARTICTP TION -- Any member of the public may speak to any issue which is not agendized for public hearing at this meeting. Speakers will be limited to three minutes during this item and at public hearings. There will be a thirty (30) minute aggregate time limit for this item, and speakers are encouraged to sign up in advance with the City Clerk prior to their participation. The City Council may consider and act upon such other business as may come before it. All meetings are open to the public. Carol A. Mayor Abramowitz called for the Pledge of Allegiance. Mayor Norman Abramowitz Vice Mayor Dr. H. Evans, City Clerk Karen Jackson, Secretary ****************************************************************** Mayor Abramowitz announced that the Lieutenant Governor of Florida and E. Bentley Lipscomb, Head of the new Department of Elder Affairs and possibly, Governor Lautin Chiles will be at Kings Point's Main Clubhouse at 1:15 p.m. today and invited the residents in order to discuss the health and welfare of the Florida residents. Mayor Abramowitz said immediately after the Swearing -In Ceremonies, refreshments will be served in the foyer. Mayor Abramowitz introduced the dignitaries that were present as follows: Ilene Lieberman, Mayor of Lauderhill; Dan Pearl, Mayor of Sunrise; Al Gerrefi, Mayor of Lauderdale Lakes; Ron Greenstein, Councilman of Coconut Creek; Eugene Beck, Councilman of Lauderdale Lakes; Bob Marks, Vice Mayor of Parkland; Muriel Davis, Chairperson of the Tamarac Charter Board; David Krantz, Tamarac Charter Board; Morton Winter, Tamarac Charter Board; Martin Dishowitz, Chairman of Plantation Commission; Henry Rohr, former Tamarac Council member; Bernard Hart, former Tamarac Mayor; Helen Massaro, former Tamarac Vice Mayor; Bruce Hoffman, former Tamarac Vice Mayor; Walter Fal,ck, former Tamarac Mayor; Tillie Rothstein, President of the West Broward Democratic Club; Barbara Effman, Area Leader of the Democratic Party of Broward County; Joe Welsh, President of the United Democratic Club; Marilyn Katz, wife of Councilman Katz; Mae Schreiber, wife of Council -Elect Schreiber and President of the Tamarac Democratic Club; Claire Abramowitz, his wife, and daughters, Joan and Sheila; Teddi Schumann, wife of Councilman Schumann; Faye Bender, Mayor -Elect Bender, and his daughter, Nancy; and Morris Glicksman, former Tamarac Councilman. MOTION TO ADOPT Tam #6234 declaring the results of the voting for Mayor and City Council Districts 2, 3, and 4. Mayor Abramowitz said it has been a privilege to be Mayor for the City of Tamarac for two terms. He said the citizens of Tamarac are alert, active, and politically astute. He expressed his appreciation to his wife, the residents and Staff for their support during his terms as Mayor. VOTE: ALL VOTED AYE 4. PRESENTATION OFOERTIFICA'1'ES r,OF, ELECTION by the City Clerk. Ms. Evans read and presented the Certificates of Election to the following: Oscar Brawer Charter Board - District 2 Sam Garber Charter Board - District 4 Henry Schumann Councilman - District 2 Joseph Schreiber Councilman - District 3 Norman Abramowitz Councilman - District 4 H. Oaths of Office were administered by City Manager Kelly. Mr. Kelly administered the Oath of Office to the following: Oscar Brawer Charter Board - District 2 Sam Garber Charter Board - District 4 Henry Schumann Councilman - District 2 Joseph Schreiber Councilman - District 3 Norman Abramowitz Councilman - District 4 H. Larry Bender Mayor Mayor Bender expressed his appreciation for the support he received for the election. The new Mayor and Council members took their places on the dais. 6. UPOIEMN OF VICE MAYOR by the City Council for a one year term. Henry C. Schumann was appointed as Vice Mayor by Council. Seymour Bauer, resident of Westwood 21, requested that the new Council follow the considerations and concerns of the citizens of Tamarac. City Council Special Meeting 3/17/92/KJ Page 4 Mayor Bender said he is proud of the support and confidence received from the voters of Tamarac. He said he will endeavor to fulfill the requirements of the office of Mayor with dignity and efficiency. With no further business, Mayor Bender ADJOURNED this meeting at 10:50 a.m. CAROL A.
