HomeMy WebLinkAbout1996-01-08 - City Commission Workshop Meeting MinutesCITY OF TAMARAC CITY COMMISSION WORKSHOP MONDAY, JANUARY 8, 1996 CALL TO ORDER: Mayor Abramowitz called the Workshop to Order on Monday, January 8, 1996, at 9:30 a.m. in Conference Room #1, 7525 Northwest 88th Avenue, Tamarac, Florida. PRESENT: Mayor Norman Abramowitz Commissioner Sharon Machek Commissioner John E. McKaye Commissioner Larry Mishkin Commissioner Joseph Schreiber ALSO PRESENT: Robert S. Noe, Jr., City Manager Mitchell S. Kraft, City Attorney Dina M. McDermott, Assistant City Manager Jeffrey Miller, Director of Community Development Susan Sinclair, Risk Manager Phyllis Polikoff, Office Specialist Tape 1 Mayor Abramowitz requested Mr. Noe's evaluation on a Workshop agenda. 1. Health Insurance - City Employees Mr. Noe said he recommended CAC -United Health Care Plans of Florida and discussion followed on CAC and HIP. Mayor Abramowitz requested Mr. Noe contact CAC and HIP to question whether participation could be split. Comm. Machek suggested employees contribute more toward the three options and discussion continued. Tape 2 City Commission Workshop Meeting 1 /8/96 Page 2 1 2. University Hospital - Master Plan/Package Waiver Mr. Miller presented an overview of the site plan. Robert Cohn, University Hospital's Planner, made a presentation and referenced the parking waiver which would be agendized for January 24. Discussion followed. Mayor Abramowitz requested a recess at 10:55 a.m. and the Workshop reconvened at 11:00 a.m. with everyone in attendance. Mayor Abramowitz advised that Dr. Alfred Wald's wife had passed away. 3. Fountain Mini Storage Facility James Brady, Owner, made a presentation and stated the project would generate taxes. Discussion followed. Tape 3 Larry Anderson, President of Stor-All, made a presentation pertaining to Stor-All's other locations and the proposed project and discussion followed. Mayor Abramowitz opened the Workshop to the public. Mary Jane Redfield, Irving Goodstadt and Morris Sher voiced objections to the project. Tape 4 Discussion followed and Molly Goldstein stated her concerns. Mayor Abramowitz suggested having two Workshops weekly and discussion followed.
