CITY COMMISSION WORKSHOP MEETING
MONDAY, JANUARY 23, 1995
CALL TO ORDER: Mayor Abramowitz called the meeting to order on Monday, January
23, 1995, at 9:30 a.m. in Conference Room #1 at Tamarac City Hall, 7525 Northwest
88th Avenue, Tamarac, Florida.

1. QUASI-JUDICIAL - Request for a waiver to the sign chapter of the code
requested by Ferrin Signs, Inc. of Florida for a directory sign at Northwest
31 Avenue, THREE LAKES PLAZA, to allow the sign to be:
a. 374 square feet,
b. with complex letters 23-inches high,
C. with tenant name letters 8-inches, 10-1/2 inches or 11-1/2 inches high,
d. with tenant name space 10 square feet and 25 square feet per tenant
space,
e. 28-feet/9-inches in height,
f. 10-feet from the right-of-way.
(tabled at the 12/14/94 Regular City Commission meeting)
Discussion was held. Robert Motchkavitz, Engineer, representing the Petitioner, was
instructed to meet with Staff.

3. Tamarac Athletic Federation - Sale of beer on February 3, 4 and 5, at
Tamarac Park during a benefit softball and basketball tournament.

Mayor Abramowitz said that Parks and Recreation should thoroughly review all
requests and questioned whether Tamarac Athletic Federation's insurance policy
covered the sale of alcohol. Jeffrey L. Miller, Director of Community Development, said
todate, the City had not received a Certificate of Insurance.
Ed Doyle, Parks and Recreation Operations Manager, referenced procedures which
would have to be followed.
